When You Kill Them With Kindness You Bring Them to Life

Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart. – Proverbs 3:3

A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself – Proverbs 11:17

This article is a continuation of a series I am sharing about positive and powerful attitude attributes in Jeffrey Gitomer’s book “The Little Golden Book of Yes”. It is part of a positive attitude report card shared in the book where the readers rate themselves on a scale of 1-5 to monitor their level of positive attitude. I have taken the challenge of trying to rate 5 for as many as the 22 attributes as possible. I challenge you to do the same, as doing so can drastically change the amount of positivity and power in your life.

The attribute I discuss today is kindness. The definition I found for kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. It doesn’t sound too difficult to me, though I often wonder why so many people in the world today have such difficulty practicing it. I can’t say that I am perfect in practicing this in every situation, but I can say this…I have seen so many times how even just one simple kind act can not only change someone’s day, but can change their entire outlook on a negative situation, ultimately┬áenhancing one’s quality of life.

There are so many more Bible verses about kindness than the ones I shared at the beginning of the post. Besides being listed as one of the fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5, one more that grabs my attention is Proverbs 25:11 which says that “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver”. Often times, that fitly spoken word is a kind word. The second verse above says a man who is kind benefits. However, I find it more amazing that it is other people that benefit most when we are kind. And if you really want to stand out like gold, be kind in situations where kindness is not warranted or expected. It is extremely rare that people are kind when they have been wronged or hurt by someone. However, you can really be a true, Godly example by demonstrating such an attitude. It’s not easy to do, but I love the shock (or even frustration sometimes) on someone’s face when I return their negative or even rude behavior with kindness. Even if they don’t change from it, I at least get the satisfaction of knowing I handled the situation right and some kind of justice has been served.

As you can see, everyone wins when you demonstrate kindness. You benefit yourself, and most importantly, you make life better for those around you. The challenge going forward is to find as many opportunities as you can to demonstrate kindness to others (and please don’t forget to be kind to yourself as well). Even in difficult situations, find ways to kill ’em with kindness. Eventually it becomes habit, and the magnificent blessings magnify for you and everyone else. Enjoy them čÖé

How to Get Your Plans to Succeed

February 16, 2015

We are all looking for quick ways to success. While doing my daily Bible reading, I found a quick, easy, and logical way to experience the success I am looking for.

I share this simple yet powerful verse with you…Proverbs 16:3 says to commit your plans to the Lord and they will succeed. One version says to share your plans with the Lord, another says to commit your actions. Either way, it’s obvious that the clear cut road to success is to put your desires in God’s hands.

I believe this is true because if God has control of your plans you will not fail. One of two things will happen. He will bless the plans and help you carry them out. Or He will alter the plans according to His will, and they will turn out even better than you thought.

The Life Application Bible provides some excellent advice regarding this concept. It suggests to act as if everything depended on you, yet pray and trust as if everything depends on God. You can’t go wrong with that combination.

What plans do you want to succeed today? Consider them and commit them to the Lord. If you do, you will experience success. There’s no way around it. Enjoy the blessings čÖé

Name A Small, But Very Powerful Part Of The Body

July 28, 2013

The human body is an amazing machine. There are many individual parts that work together. It’s ironic to me that some of the most powerful parts of the body are the smallest parts. The big parts like the arms and legs are important, but our body would not function at all without the brain and heart, both which are much smaller.

Today I would like to focus on another small but powerful part of the body. You could probably live without this part, but it is still one of the most important, yet neglected parts of your body. That part is….the tongue!!

Proverbs 18:21 says the tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will enjoy its fruit. James 3:5 says the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. The chapter discusses how the rudder is a small part of the ship, yet controls the whole vessel. It also discusses how a large horse can be controlled by feeding it one bit.

It’s the same with us humans. One of the best quotes I ever heard is from by a preacher who visited our church several months ago. He said…”my words can make me miracles, or my words can make me miserable.”

Once again, the tongue is a small part of the body, yet it can control the whole vessel. Further down in James 3, it says, “with the tongue we praise the Lord, and with it we curse men who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.”

Which way do you want the power of the tongue to take you? The choice is yours. You can use it to praise and say positive things that will take you in the direction you want to go. With your tongue and words alone, you can create greatness in your life. Or, you can use your tongue and words to complain and make yourself miserable. With your words alone, you can go from faith to doubt, and from joy to despair.

Please don’t forget this powerful part of your body today. Use it to produce positive and powerful words, which in turn produce the same kind of thoughts and actions. Whatever type of words you decide to use will determine the level of positivity and joy in your life. I’ve always been advised….don’t use many words, but choose the ones I do use wisely. I offer the same advice to you my wonderful readers today. When it comes to the words you use, its all about quality, not quantity. Use words that will bring you miracles today. Enjoy the blessings : )

A Cheerful Way To Heal Yourself

June 27, 2013

I have always believed that God is the ultimate healer. I still do. However, the longer I live, the more I realize that we hold a great deal of power with our health, and the ability to maintain and heal ourselves.

I was reminded of this fact as I read through Proverbs yesterday. My study took me to verse 17:22 which simply says..”a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones”. The New English translation specifically says that a cheerful heart brings healing. If you want to take it one step further, The Message version says “a cheerful disposition is good for your health, while gloom and doom leave you bone-tired”.

Do you believe that your mood and outlook on your life has an impact on your health? These are words from God Himself, which makes it very obvious to me that the way I think and feel emotionally directly impacts how I feel physically. The above verse is directly from God, but I know it is true from my own experience. When I allow myself to get stressed and too busy, I feel very run down and never seem to have the energy I need. It’s these times where I am most likely to get sick. When my thoughts and emotions are positive, it doesn’t matter how much there is to get done. I can complete any task with plenty of energy to spare.

I recommend you focus on this verse today. Are you not feeling your best? Are you tired, run down, or feeling the aches and pains of life? Whether any of those are true, or if you are feeling good and simply looking to maintain your strength, do all you can to maintain a cheerful disposition. Besides the health and energy benefits, all other aspects of your life will be affected as well. You will get along better with others. You will put yourself in a position to receive good fortune. You will feel closer to God, and your faith will increase. I can go on and on.

If you didn’t already, do you now believe you have the power to heal yourself and maintain excellent health and energy? The simple exercise of putting a smile on your face and maintaining a positive, cheerful frame of mind is the best medicine there is. It’s free and you can’t overdose on it. Enjoy the blessings : )

A Refreshing Spiritual Workout

October 1, 2012

I am┬ásomeone who is always┬álooking for ways to refresh the soul, and I’m sure I am not alone. After all, this is our main connection to our Creator. The more refreshed your soul is, the greater your connection to your Source.

I read an article in the Pentacostal Evangel by Paul Louis Cole (7/8/12, p. 11-13) that provided excellent advice on how to refresh your soul and maximize your Heavenly connection. The author mentions the importance of finding time for physical exercise to refresh the body. He advises that we must also find time to exercise and build up the soul. The following are tips to do just that:

  • Turn off…the news, and any other negative media.
  • Turn on…messages of faith, peace, and uplifting power.
  • Read…he especially encourages Proverbs in the morning, and Psalms at night. Of course a thorough reading of scripture and meditating on it┬áis necessary┬átoo. I will also recommend any other positive reading material that will uplift the mind and soul.
  • Encourage others.
  • Pray for yourself and others on a regular basis.
  • Declare faith over your life.
  • Stay connected through church, small groups, and communication.
  • Listen to positive music and encouraging messages.
  • Do the smart, wise things in all aspects of your life.
  • Decrease debt as fast as possible and never get there again.
  • Tithe regularly and find other opportunities to give financially or any way you can.

I found this to be excellent advice and felt the need to share. These concepts may seem simple, yet how many times do we get caught up in the fast pace and negativity of life? By focusing on these ideas, you can add positivity to your life and be a light to others around you. As mentioned, you are strengthening your Spiritual connection. This will add much blessing to your life, and others will feel the positive vibration and want to be a part of your positive world. I definitely recommend you find the time each day for your spiritual workout. Enjoy the blessings : )

A Generous Dose of Info To Help Receive What You Want

August 6, 2012

Is there a special formula that gives you a better chance to receive what you want? In one way, I would have to say no. There are many factors involved. However, if you are looking for a way to enhance your success, reach your goals, and receive the blessings you are looking for, I have something that can help you get there.

How do you get want you want? The answer is quite ironic and may surprise you….give it away! What? How can I give away something I don’t even have? I will say that in most cases, you already do have it. For example, some people are looking to be appreciated more. In that case, the best way to receive that appreciation is to show greater appreciation for others. Seeking more money? Be more willing to share what you already have. Many of us say we don’t have enough time. If that’s the case, give yours away. Spend time helping and serving other people, and watch how much time you will find that you really have. The same is true with the other examples. By appreciating others, you will find people appreciating you more. By sharing your money, you will find it coming to you from unexpected sources. It’s amazing how it works.

This information is well backed in the Bible. “A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed” Proverbs 11:25. “Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap” Luke 6:38. These are just some of the many verses that stress the importance and benefits of generosity.

A key concept is to avoid doing things for others simply because you want to be blessed yourself. Don’t go seeking the blessing. When you do for others, you will atomatically have it done for you. Besides,┬áthere is the┬áverse in Matthew 25 where Jesus says, whatever you do for the least of these people you do for me. You are doing it for Him and His glory. You will be blessed as a result. In addition, think of how you feel when you give to someone else. Doesn’t it feel great? That great feeling will give you more positive energy, and you will feel like you can do more with your time. The desire to give to others simply becomes natural.

Today, think of what you can do for someone else. Think especially of what it is that you are seeking in your life. Then give as much as you can of it to someone else. You will see major blessings for them, and especially in your own life. I encourage you to make it happen. Please share your results : )
