Who Can You Help Today?

July 5, 2013

Are you looking for a great way to make a difference and be the best person you can be? One of the best ways to be your best is to help others. This is nothing new, but I am realizing more and more how helping others has extreme benefits. Please allow me to share:

1. You positively impact others – This is the most obvious benefit. Other people benefit from your generosity and the time you give them.

2. You fulfill your purpose – One of the great reasons you are here on this earth is to share the love God showers upon you. We are commanded to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. When you focus on helping others you are fulfilling this command.

3. You feel better about yourself – Doesn’t it feel great to know you’ve given your best to someone else? The positive emotions you feel empower your own life, and give you more power and incentive to impact others in greater ways.

4. You get what you give – It’s amazing how, the more we we give and life, the more we are given. The more help we provide, the more help we are provided. It’s wonderful how many sincere friends show up to help when you regularly offer your services.

I don’t want to advocate helping others just so we can get things in return and solely to feel good about ourselves. However, there’s no denying that those are wonderful incentives.

I challenge you to ask yourself..who can I help today? If you think about it long enough (although it usually only takes  a short time to receive the answer) you will find plenty of people to help, and plenty of ways to do it. Even if it’s just one or two people to assist, and can make a great difference for that person and for yourself.

So who can you help today? Your opportunity awaits. Take advantage of it today. Enjoy the blessings : )

A Helpful Way To Find Your Purpose

June 22, 2013

Many people are searching for their purpose in life. For some, it’s an easy decision. For others, it’s a constant struggle.

The question many people ask is…”what is my purpose in life?” A follow-up is…”how do I find my purpose?” I apologize that I cannot answer these questions here. However, I believe I can lead you in the right direction with some helpful advice I was given.

I was reading information from author Wayne Dyer about purpose. He provided this advice that I will never forget, and has helped me move closer to finding and achieving my purpose. The advice is this…as individuals we have different purposes for being here. However, we all have one universal purpose. That is…to love and serve others. It’s as simple as that.

Can it really be that simple? I have found that it is. This doesn’t require that we do something earth-shattering and overly above and beyond for everyone. It requires simple acts of love and service. It can be anything from a hug, a note of encouragement, doing a helpful chore, a smile…anything positive.

Several things happen when we perform these small acts of love and service:

1. Positive energy – One small act of service can create a tidal wave of positive  energy for you and the person you serve. This energy opens the door for miracles.

2. You can potentially change someone’s life – I’ve heard countless stories of people who were ready to give up, until they received a note of encouragement or a random act of kindness that changed everything. In many cases that simple act of kindness was the spark to ignite the fire of greatness in their lives.

3. It helps you find your greater purpose – Since love and service is one of your purposes in life, consistent practice of this purpose will lead you to your own individual purpose. As Wayne Dyer says…”when you make your purpose to love and serve others, your own purpose finds you.”

I believe there are many other benefits to loving and serving others. However, when you do this consistently, you are already living your life on purpose. You are a blessing to others, and the blessings in your own life will be countless. There will be no issue in finding purpose because in many ways you will already be living it. Now I encourage you to think of someone you can serve today. Then go love and serve on purpose. Enjoy the blessings : )

Driving Home The Point of Law of Attraction

May 23, 2013

I will start by saying that I am a very patient person(sometimes to a fault). I am generally kind and good-hearted. This has always been true. However, up until a couple of years ago, it was a totally different story in one place…the car. Behind the wheel, I turned from an angel to a devil. I was nasty, didn’t give an inch, and had the attitude that it was my road and everyone else needed to get out of my way.

I am certainly not proud to share that information. It also occurred that, the more frustrated I became at the other drivers, the more negative situations I encountered. In the 25 minute drive to work, I dreaded that I would get stuck behind a slow driver. Sure enough, at some point, I encountered a delay which became worse as I expressed my frustration at that person.

There came a time where I made a conscious effort to stop this behavior. It was so different than my regular personality, and it caused inner conflict as a result. I finally felt God speaking to me when in a short period of time, I had a minor accident, and I received my first ever speeding ticket.

The above events had an immediate impact. I began doing things like leaving earlier for work and other destinations, being more courteous to other drivers, and deliberately driving slower. As I did this, an amazing thing happened. I encountered far less of those negative situations. I wasn’t getting stopped at every traffic light. When I didn’t get upset for someone turning in front of me, they went faster than me, and I didn’t get stuck. I felt much better because my true positive personality came out, even behind the wheel.

I share this because it is a classic case of the law of attraction at work. When I focused on the negativity of the driving experience and showed anger and frustration towards other drivers, I encountered more of the negative. When I instead showed patience and love, the drive became a positive and pleasant one.

This is an important lesson to keep in mind for any situation. Focus on the positive aspects of the events and people around you. Demonstrate a positive attitude and love. You will see the positive quickly thrown back at you. In fact, the good will accelerate, and you will gain more confidence as a result. Pay attention to where you focus your thoughts, and be sure to keep them as positive as possible. You will see immediate results. Enjoy the blessings : )

How To Receive The Love You Are Seeking

April 28, 2013

“To acquire love…fill yourself up with it until you become a magnet.” – Charles Haanel.

We all want to be and feel loved. It is the thing we humans crave after the most on this earth. Some of us have been lucky enough to experience a great deal of love from those around us, while others may not feel very loved.

It is difficult to control the attitudes of people around us, but if you want to experience love, the key is in the above quote. I believe there are two main ways to accomplish this. One is to do what the quote says and fill yourself up with love. Consciously bring to mind the great love of God and as much evidence of that love as possible. The second thing is to be that love. As much as you can, demonstrate the love of God to others around you by giving and serving in a loving way.

It’s amazing how what we give away comes back to us in abundance.  When we give thanks, we are given more reasons to be thankful. When we give money, it comes back in multiple amounts. And when we give love, it’s amazing how it comes back to us from all kinds of different sources.

We don’t give love with the sole purpose of getting back. When you give out the kindness of your heart, you feel an unbelievable joy that makes you want to give again and again. After a while, it won’t even matter what you get back, though I can guarantee it will be an abundance. I challenge you today to be the love you seek, and to give it away as much as possible. You will be truly blessed : )

The Look On His Face

March 26, 2013

I am very much enjoying the special series “The Bible” that is airing on The History Channel. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a 5 part series of the history of the old and new testaments. It is very interesting to watch as stories of the Bible come to life on the screen.

The other day I was watching the part where Jesus first begins His ministry. Peter has been out fishing all night and has caught nothing. Jesus then invites Himself onto the boat and tells Peter to go back out and cast the nets again. Peter argues that they had been out all night without results. However, He still takes the advice and goes back out fishing with Jesus on the boat. As He does this, he is still shaking his head and looks at Jesus like he’s crazy.

It is the next part of the video that completely caught my attention. Jesus knows that Peter is looking at Him like He’s crazy. However, Jesus has a look of anticipation on His face. It’s a look like, “just do what I say, because I know exactly what’s going to happen. You’ll see”. It’s the very next part that really hit me. Jesus is now looking at Peter to see his reaction as the miracle occurs. If you don’t know the story, Peter ends up catching so many fish that he can barely pull the nets in. Jesus is just sitting there watching with joy as Peter experiences the miracle.

As I mentioned, I was very touched by this scene and it really made me think. You should have seen the look on Jesus’s face as He watched His disciple reap the benefits of this miracle. I then thought about it and even said it out loud to the people I was watching with. My exact words were..”that’s the exact look that Jesus has on His face when He sees us reap the benefits of one of His miracles. That’s so cool!”

It is cool, isn’t it? It’s not His burdensome job to provide miracles for us. It’s His joy and absolute pleasure to do so. Invite Him onto your boat and ask for the miracles you are looking for in your own life. Then imagine the look on His face as He watches you enjoy the benefits of it. If that’s not something to live for, I don’t know what is. Enjoy the blessings : )

How To Gain Ultimate Success

March 23, 2013

“The value of the individual life is not measured by the quality of possessions, but by the quality of existence”.

The above quote is by Christian Larson in his book “The Ideal Made Real” (p. 109). It is easily one of the best of many books I’ve read on personal development. I’ve read it several times, and it seems like each time, a different part of it catches my attention.

What is the significance of the quote? Based on the other information in the chapter, he is saying that instead of striving to achieve “things” and material success, it is far more important to strive to be the absolute best you that you can be. We are all blessed with different personalities. Knowing this, let your unique personality shine as brightly as it can.

I will share more quotes from the chapter that I believe can bring the point across far better than I can…”to find your personality passing through a transformation process, bringing out into expression the finest and best that you can picture in your ideals is something that will add immensely to the joy and worth of living. In fact, this alone would make life not only worth living, but so rich that every moment would become a source of unbounded satisfaction itself” (p.110).

I will add one more…”the average person usually asks himself how much money he can make during the next ten years, but why should he not ask how much happiness he can enjoy during those same years, or how much brilliancy he can develop in his own mind or how much more beautiful he can become in body, character, and soul? He would find that by living for these latter things, he would not only perpetually enrich his life and live a life that is thoroughly worth living, but he would find that the earning of money would be much easier than if he simply lived for material gain alone”(p.110-111).

Once again, the message is this. Focus on being the best person you can be at all times. See the beauty in the unique personality God has given you. Constantly remind yourself that His perfect and loving spirit is a part of you. Be love, beauty, kindness, joy, and all of the other fruits of that Spirit.

When you are the best you that you can be, you are setting yourself up for success. You are more attractive and positive, and you will be drawn like a magnet to positive and successful situations. You will have the confidence to act and take full advantage of the opportunities. Most importantly, you will enjoy a life of happiness, satisfaction, and success. That’s a life we all strive to live. Enjoy those wonderful blessings : )

As a footnote, an acquaintance of mine provided me a free copy of the e-book I mentioned above. If you would like a free copy for yourself, leave a comment or contact me, and I will be happy to share. The book has helped my life immensely, and I believe it will help you in the same way : )

What Is Your Vision Of Success?

January 21, 2013

Do you believe you can succeed? The answer may be an obvious yes. Hopefully it is. However, there are many people who truly don’t believe they can reach their goals. It is often suggested to visualize success in the mind in order to develop the faith necessary to make it happen. However, sometimes people just can’t see success or the possibility of it through their own eyes.

How can one change this and enable themselves to visualize success? One excellent way that was suggested to me is to see all situations through God’s eyes instead of your own. Think about it for a minute. In God’s eyes all things are possible. In God’s eyes everything is good. In God’s eyes there is only love. the list can go on.

When we see things through God’s eyes we indeed see the possibility of success instead of our own doubt. We see and take advantage of the goodness in every situation instead of the negative and shortcomings. We see love in everybody and evything. When we do this, we automatically set ourselves up for our own success.

The next time you doubt the possibility of success, think again. Pray and visualize success through God’s eyes of infinite possibility. Visualize only the most ideal scenes and situations. Become so convinced of the achievement of your goal that no one, including yourself, can tell you otherwise. See the good, and love what you have. It’s a gift from God. He can see it, and so can you. Enjoy the blessings : )
