You hear those words in your mind…”Don’t Quit!”. However, the words of “no hope” often ring at the same time. By following the guidelines presented here, quitting will no longer be an option : )
I had a conversation with a relative the other day. She mentioned that she had a little extra money. As a nice gesture she said she mailed $20 to me, and I can expect to receive it soon.
I was very happy and thankful about this nice gesture! As I thought about it more, it also provided a valuable reminder about faith. In the past, I would pray for something, but at times would lack the confidence that I would receive what I asked for. As a result, I firmly believe I missed out on some of God’s intended blessings.
There are many that are like this today. In many ways, they do all the right things. They pray, maintain positive thoughts, and take action. However, they miss the key ingredient of faith. Instead of focusing on the successful outcome, they worry about how it’s going to happen, or worse, if it’s going to happen. If this is you, there may be some wonderful blessings that you are missing out on.
I challenge you to use the opening example as an inspiration. When you desire something, follow the helpful steps of praying, affirming/visualizing, and taking action. Then think of the realized goal as if someone said they were sending it to you in the mail. It may not be there right away, but you can have the joyful expectation that your blessing is on its way, and the assurance that it will eventually arrive.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t even want the possibility of missing out on any of God’s blessings. I will end with my favorite Scripture verse…whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours (Mark 11:24). Believe your dreams are on their way, and you will see them fulfilled. Enjoy the blessings : )
P.S. I recently wrote another post about this topic. If you would like to check it out, here’s the link…
Every once in a while I like to take words that are important for positive and abundant living, and break them down to their most basic parts. It’s a very helpful exercise. For example, I’ve been concentrating on increasing my faith lately. I decided to break it down, and it is amazing what I came up with. I gladly share this information with you.
I have always been familiar with the Biblical definition of faith, so I start with that. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as the assurance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things unseen. That definition is enough to really make one think, but I took it a step further and was amazed. When I defined the word assurance, this is what I found…A positive declaration intended to give confidence; a promise. It adds…Confidence or certainty in one’s own abilities. These words are definitely encouraging. I took it one step further and defined hopefulness. The simple definition I found was “joyful expectation”.
When I put it all together, it sounds like this. Being confident and certain that the things I joyfully expect will come to pass. I positively declare this as a promise from God.
Wow! When faith is broken down this way, it shed a whole new light on the topic! If you are trying to increase your faith and take it to the next level, I believe you have just found the key. Start with a joyful expectation that the things you desire will come to pass. Then be confident and certain that it will!
I can read some of your minds right now. You want to know how do I do this? One way that works great is to visualize the success you are seeking. Spend time imagining how much better your life will be as if you already have what you desire. See yourself in this new life and live as if it’s already yours. Another suggestion is to pray and meditate whenever you can. This closeness with God always increases your confidence in what you have come to joyfully expect. These are only two ways. If there is anything else that works for you, please do it.
The Bible and today’s society are filled with stories about how great things were accomplished with simple faith. For example, in sports inferior teams sometimes win championships simply because they are confident and expect to win regardless of what the “experts” say. Many miracles happen because people have confidence in God’s promises and expect to see His great work in their lives.
I challenge you today to focus on this definition of faith and live it out. Joyfully expect your goals to be met and your dreams to come true. Be confident that they will come to pass. You’ll be amazed how your faith will grow, and your life will change dramatically. I’ve seen it happen in my own life and in many others. If you have any suggestions about what you do to increase your faith, I encourage you to share. In the meantime, enjoy the blessings of this great day : )
I actually wrote this post several years ago. However, even thought we’re a couple of days into it, I thought it would be appropriate to share again…
One of my favorite things on this earth (besides my family and friends) is baseball. As of March 31 a new season is upon us. Besides the excitement of my favorite sport being available to watch regularly for the next 7 months, I enjoy this time for other reasons as well. The start of a new baseball season represents several things, such as:
1. Renewal – There is no better time for such a wonderful sport like baseball to start than in Spring. The dead of winter is now becoming the growth of Spring. The grey is becoming green again; flowers are beginning to bloom; the sound of singing birds is returning; warmer temperatures enable us to return to the beautiful outdoors. These are several examples. I’m sure you can think of others that appeal to you.
2. Hope – My favorite team is the New York Mets. If you read the pre-season reports, many are saying the Mets will not do well this year. Unfortunately, they are probably right. However, at this time, there is always hope. No matter how poorly they’ve done in the past or are are predicted to do this year, every team is just as good as the other right now. Every fan can dream World Series. Yes, for some reality hits fast, but for now everyone has a chance. It’s like the New York lottery slogan…”hey, ya never know”. In many cases, the teams that get to the World Series are not the ones people expected to be there in the beginning of the season.
3. Excellent competition – Yes, there are 162 games. However, each one can make a difference in the end. The thing I like about baseball players is they play most games as if it were the last. The results are not always there, but I rarely get the feeling a player or team is not taking the game seriously. Besides, baseball is the type of game I can enjoy on any beautiful afternoon or evening, especially with a bag of chips or peanuts in one hand, and a cold drink in the other.
These are just a few reasons I enjoy the game so much. I love it for what it is and for what it represents. Now the wait is over. So take me out to the ballgame, buy me some peanuts and cracker jack, and PLAY BALL!
One of the things I am most thankful for, is the fact that we are given the chance for a new start every 24 hours. No matter what the days before have been like, this day is new. It’s a chance for something special. It’s the chance to accomplish something you’ve never done before. It’s a beautiful, fresh start.
I was reminded of this fact by some information I received from Joel Osteen. He presents some ideas for a fresh start. I will share those here with you:
F – forgive those who have hurt you. It is unbelievable how liberating this can be. I will also add…be sure to forgive yourself too!
R – refuse to look back. Look forward instead
E – expect God’s best. Starting today!
S – stay in faith, regardless of the current circumstances.
H – hope for tomorrow. In Joel’s words, when you hope, obstacles become opportunities and setbacks become comebacks.
This all sounds like simple, greate advice to me. Use it to your benefit and take advantage of the daily fresh start God gives you. Enjoy the blessings : )
