A Positive Way To Get Noticed

November 6, 2011

There are many people in our world that do things to get noticed. It happens in different ways. It could be the middle school student acting out to get the attention he or she craves. It may be a musician or actor trying to make it big. Perhaps it could be the average worker in corperate America seeking a promotion.

After some conversation and reading, I have found a sure way to get noticed. It seems like a simple, common sense method, but it’s amazing how many people know this and still don’t do it.

So what’s the magic formula? It is simply to do your best. I’ll say it again. DO YOUR BEST. Wait a minute, that’s it? I’ve been told that all my life and it hasn’t taken me far. I understand. The key is to do your best in every situation, in every place. Every time. That’s what separates the average from the extraordinary. When you put your best effort into everything, that’s when people take notice. Here’s another key. Don’t do it to please others. Don’t do it just so people hopefully notice. Do it to please you. Do it so you can sleep at night knowing that you were your best and did all you could possibly do that day. Do it also to please the God that created you, and will bless you abundantly for it.

When we do our best in every area all the time we take the next step to experiencing greatness in our lives. We don’t do it to get attention, but we WILL get attention. We don’t do it to get blessed, but we WILL get blessed. God says that faith without works is dead. Well, these  are the works He is talking about. And when we do our part as well as we can, do you think God will hold back when its our time to be blessed? No way!

Whether you are seeking a great family, superior health, endless work and income opportunities, many friends, or whatever you are seeking in life, do everything wholeheartedly. Even if you are not where you want to be at the moment, you will get there if you do things right. For example, you may desire to be a corporate executive, but right now you are a shift worker on an assembly line. If you are the best assembly worker you can be, you will be promoted to supervisor. The best supervisor you can be then results in another step up. This continues until you eventually get to where you want to be. The more effort you put to being your best, the quicker you get there. There are many stories of this occurring in the lives of ordinary people who ended up with greatness.

Doing our best in everything is not a difficult thing to do. Also, make sure you are trying to be YOUR best, not THE best. We are not competing with anyone. It’s just a fact. When you do your best at everything, doors open and opportunities that you could have never imagined are presented to you with regularity. Make that happen by doing and being your best today. Enjoy the blessings : )

Stepping Out Of the Ordinary

October 24, 2011

Ok, I don’t know about you, but I’ve had enough of the average, ordinary life. I am tired of accepting mediocrity, and know it is time to make the serious effort to reach the level of greatness I am seeking.

It’s frustrating to know that great things are close within my reach, but I am still not quite there. Why not? I believe it’s for several reasons. One is that I often don’t follow the excellent advice I’ve learned over the past couple of years about putting positive mind power to work. I believe I am a positive person overall. However, I have not yet perfected the process of putting that positive power to work for me on a consistent basis.

Another reason I feel like I am being held back is that I am listening to too many people. But isn’t it wise to listen to other people? Yes, very much so. However, I am letting what other people say, or worse, what they MIGHT say or think dictate what actions, or lack of action I take. Lately when I read inspirational information that can really help me with my life, there seems to always be someone there putting a damper on it. I will explain shortly.

So how do I remedy the situation? As I was sitting in church today, I realized some things. By the way when I “realize” something in the middle of church, I can almost always take that as God trying to tell me something. I realize that I just need to take God literally at His word when it comes to matters of faith. For example, here are some Bible verses that came to mind: If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer (Matt 21:22). Everything is possible for Him who believes (Mark 9:23). You may ask me for anything in my name and I will do it (John 14:14).

These are very inspirational verses. He will do ANYTHING, it says. Yeah, but what about only in His will? Yeah, but now your preaching prosperity gospel. Yeah, but you’re being greedy asking God for too much. Do you know what? I’m done with the “yeah buts”. Yes, I know God’s will is much more important than my agenda. The problem is I often use this as an excuse and fail to act instead of doing so in faith. I don’t know about you, but I don’t see any “prosperity” labels in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. And the more I read, the more I find out that God WANTS us to keep asking for great things in our lives. In the book of James, it says we have not because we ask not. So why not ask?

As I’ve mentioned, I’m done listening to the doubters and dampers. I am taking God at His word, and praying for big, great things, expecting that He will come through. If something is not in His will, I will gladly step aside and let Him fulfill His better plan for me. It’s up to me to pray and understand His will, and to act and move forward without getting too far out in front of Him. However, if I do, I trust that He will bring me right back to where I need to be.

After all this ( I appreciate you reading this far), you may be asking why I am writing this on a blog that is supposed to be helping people instead of focusing on myself? It’s because I get the feeling there are others like me who are done living the ordinary and are looking for greater things. If that’s the case, I offer the same advice I am taking for myself. Take God at His word. If He says you can ask boldly for anything, than do it! He wants to see your life grow into greatness even more than you do.

The bottom line is I am taking God at His promises and moving out of the ordinary to a life of great adventure and success. Would anyone like to come with me? Have an excellent, blessed day : )

Big Prayers

October 20, 2011

Have you ever experienced the extreme power of prayer? Those times where an answer to a difficult situation is as far away as heaven itself, and you desperately cry out to God? Then suddenly an answer arrives just like that. It’s not just any answer, but a mind-blowing, divine response that is far greater than anything you could have imagined.

I’ve experienced this at times in my life, and I want more! Is it possible to experience results like this on a regular basis? I believe it is. How? It’s about how we pray. I have found that God will give us whatever we expect. It’s easy to pray small, simple prayers. We do that often because our minds can only conceive small results.

I believe it’s time to change the above way of thinking. God is waiting for us to pray big. What are big prayers? They are prayers for things that there is no way we can bring about results on our own. Prayers that go above and beyond our small conceptions and perceptions, and results that can only be brought about by God. When we pray these types of prayers, then we see God begin to move in our lives.

Why don’t people pray these prayers all the time then? I think it’s because, for some strange reason, that there is a limit to the amount of blessing we can receive in our lives. They believe we are not worthy to receive such great things in our lives. They think miracles can happen for other people, but not for them. I can vouch for this as I often thought like this in the past. If this is you, please cease such thinking at once. There are no limits to the amount of blessing we can receive in our lives. And if you have faith, miracles can happen in your life too. It’s simply a matter of asking for them and believing in them.

I have learned an interesting fact through my reading about blessings we receive in our lives. Some of us are lucky enough to have many blessings, some that we never even asked for. However, in many cases, God will not bless us unless we ask. He is actually holding the blessings for us, and will release them upon our request. This tells me that I have missed out on many blessings in life because I never asked for them. I may not know what they were until I get to heaven. On the other side, it tells me that if Ican learn to ask for big things and look beyond my own limited imagination, I can receive so much more in my life than I already have. Now that’s reason for optimism!

The next time you pray, be sure to pray beyond the ordinary good. Seek greatness that only God can provide. Then make sure you are prepared, because you will most likely receive blessings you may not even be ready for. Just be sure to still gladly accept them! God wants to bless you abundantly. Ask big and you will receive beyond big. Enjoy the blessings : )

Everlasting Faith

September 21, 2011

Is your faith lacking these days? If things are difficult and you are facing many obstacles, it is often easy to lose faith.

There are times in my life where my faith is not as strong as it could be. When this happens it is alarming to me because there are many verses in the Bible that stress the importance of faith. According to your faith it will be done for you. Anything is possible to him who has faith. Without faith who can expect to receive anything from God? Those are just a few of them. These verses are great when our faith is high. With great faith we can experience miracles in our life. However, what if we lack that miracle working faith?

I read a very re-assuring Bible verse the other day. It is from 2 Timothy 2:13. It says, “if we remain faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself”. This verse tells me several things. First of all, God expects that there will be times in our life where negative circumstances cause us to lose faith. He understands. Also, the last part of that verse reminds me that He has a plan for our lives. He has a will that He will not allow to be denied. Even though our faith may be low, He will still remain with us and will never turn His back on us.

This idea reminds me of a young child learning to ride a bicycle. At first, the child does not have the faith to ride by himself. What a good father or mother would then do is guide them along. Have the child do the work of pushing the pedals and balancing the bike while they assist by holding on to the bike. After all, they understand the child’s fear, and they wouldn’t want them to fall because they were not ready to ride on their own. However, if the child keeps working at it, they eventually develop the confidence and faith to ride without the guiding hand of their parent. Their faith has increased to where they know they can complete the task.

I believe this same scenario is true in our daily adult lives. As long as we make the effort and persist, God will lovingly guide us. Eventually, we will get to the point where our faith grows, and we can complete those tasks that we originally didn’t believe we could. As we continually test our faith for greater things, we will be blessed more and more. We will see greater success and enjoy a more joyful, rewarding life.

It is important to have faith if we want greatness in our lives. However, when it is difficult to believe, know that God is still there with us helping us get to where we need to be. There aren’t many things more assuring than that.

Have an excellent day : )

So Long Status Quo

September 14, 2011

I’m at a point in life where I am tired of living the average life. Sure, I am thankful for the many wonderful blessings I have received in life. However, instead of the status quo average in some areas of my life, I am seeking greatness.

The weird thing is that I am seeing that this is exactly where God wants me. I believe it is His voice I am hearing, and He is telling me that, if I have the faith, He can cause the good in my life to increase dramatically. I believe He is saying…here I am. Rely on me and my power and protection. I will take you where you want to go. He wants us to live the incredible life, and He is willing to help us get there.

I am reminded of this whole idea by a song I hear today for the first time in a while. The song is “Brave” by Nichole Nordeman. The chorus says it all..

So long, status quo
I think I’ve just let go
You make me wanna be brave
The way it always was
It’s no longer good enough
You make me wanna be brave

Any one of us can be brave if we rely on God’s power and direction. He can take you from average to great. From status quo to new adventure. From down and negative to flying high and positive. Will you let Him do that for you today?

If you are tired of the status quo, let go and let God take you to your promised land. Pray to Him, have faith, and let Him carry you the rest of the way. Enjoy the blessings : )
