I often share about the importance of finding the time to pray, meditate on your goals, and visualize life as you wish it to be. This is because you often receive what you focus your thoughts on. The problem is that, as easy it is to spend a few minutes praying and visualizing, many people don’t take this necessary opportunity. The reason is almost always the same…I don’t have the time.
I understand that time is precious, and all of us often fight the clock. My question then is this. Do you have time to watch your favorite TV show each week? Do you have time to read novels from that author you love? Do you have time to read all of the bad news in the paper?
I’m not saying there is anything wrong with watching your favorite program or reading your favorite book. My point is that, even though you don’t have time for so many things, you MAKE time to do those things. My point is that if you can make time to do those things, you can easily make time to pray, visualize, read the Bible, etc.
It’s all about deliberately MAKING the time to do these very important things. I was learning this the hard way. I wanted my life to change in a big way. I knew I had to pray, think positive thoughts, and visualize the successful life I was dreaming about to make it happen. However, I often went many days without doing any of it. My life wasn’t changing. In fact, I was getting more frustrated, and I was heading in the opposite direction. I then realized that the only way I was going to get that time was that if I deliberately took it myself. No excuses. I was going to do it no matter what, regardless of the situation. It even helped me double task, as I still watched the sports I wanted to watch, and just did some of the mental exercises during the breaks. I will say though, it’s best if you can fully focus on your thoughts, God’s word, etc.
This concept is true for anything in life. If you want to get in better shape and have been putting off exercise, you simply need to deliberately block off the time to do so. If you are looking to call that friend you’ve been meaning to speak with, it’s just a matter of purposely setting the time aside to do so. Sometimes this is easier said than done, but the more you deliberately put time aside for these important things, the more progress you will see. Even more amazing, is the more you do this, the more it will seem that you have more time available to you. It’s the same 24 hours a day, but it will seem like you have more if it.
I challenge you to think of something you’ve been meaning to get done, but put off because of lack of time. Use that excuse no more, and deliberately put aside a chunk of time to accomplish it today. Even if you don’t completely finish the task, you will be much closer than you would have been, and you will feel better about it. You will also be less likely to procrastinate and will quickly set up another time where you can complete it.
I have accomplished so much more in my life since I just decided to deliberately take time to do the most important things in life. Yes, I still have a lot less time than I would like, but if you deliberately seek the time to pray, visualize, or do whatever you are looking to do, you will find it. Enjoy the blessings : )
When it comes to advice on ways to use the mind to help bring success into my life I am definitely like a kid in a candy shop. I can’t get enough of this type of advice. As mentioned several times before, I like to use this blog as a relay service, as I share this precious information with you when I receive it and it positively impacts my own life.
One piece of advice I’ve seen in several places is the art of questioning the mind. Why are questions so powerful? Think of questions in any aspect of life. We use them to gain more knowledge. It empowers us because we can use this knowledge for good. If a 3rd grade math student asks a teacher a question, they receive information necessary to succeed. If I ask my wife how I can make her happier, she provides information that I can act on, and make her happier.
These same techniques work in your own life. I’ve tried it, and it works wonders. You have goals right? However, in many cases, when it comes to figuring out how to accomplish those goals, you don’t have the answers. What do you do then? The powerful technique I’ve been taught is to ask yourself the questions. “What can I do now/today to accomplish…?” What steps can I take now to become healthier? What can I do today to grow my business? What can I do immediately to be a better friend?
Those are some examples of questions to ask. Here’s the amazing thing…when you ask your mind these questions, it feels forced to come up with answers. Try it! Every time I practice this (which is more and more as it becomes regular habit), answers to my questions seem to appear suddenly and easily. I have answers that I never had before. As mentioned before, those answers are power to act and get closer to the accomplishment of my goals.
Another great part about this process is that it helps you keep your focus on the goal. We often don’t act because we get distracted by other thoughts, nagging doubts, etc. When you ask your mind specific questions about what you are looking to accomplish, it locks in on that goal, and once again helps take you there faster.
Finally, I believe that you are also inviting divine guidance into the situation when you ask questions like this. You are asking your mind, but in essence, you are asking God for His help and guidance, and He ultimately leads you in the direction to go. No matter how you see it, this technique can do wonders in providing focus, direction, and guidance to accomplishing your most precious dreams and goals. Ask yourself questions throughout the day about what steps to take to gain success. If you listen, you will definitely get the answers. Enjoy the blessings : )
What state do you live in? Hopefully whatever state it is, you would say it’s the best. I know that I strive to live in the best state on a regular basis.
Wait a minute, you might say. How can you strive to live in the best state? I understand. However, I’m not going where you think I may be going with this. Here’s the state I’m talking about. It’s the state of….mind. As in always striving for the best state of mind.
I am being reminded a great deal lately how state of mind affects quality of life. When you are regularly in the best state of mind, your quality of life increases dramatically.
I will add one important piece of the puzzle. Did you know that what you desire is also a state of mind? For example, happy people are regularly in that joyful state of mind. Wealthy people have a wealth mindset. Fit people have a healthy mindset.
Here lies one of the great keys to success and achieving your goals. The key is to put yourself in that state of mind, and maintain it. For example, if you are seeking to lose weight and become more healthy, put yourself in that state of mind. Envision yourself at the weight you want to be. Put and keep yourself in a healthy state of mind. Act as a fit, healthy person would. What happens then is you subconsciously develop the habits that fit people do. As you think accordingly, you begin to automatically act accordingly. That’s when the results begin to show.
It’s the same with anything else in life. If you are seeking greater wealth, develop a wealth mindset. Visualize yourself with money and enjoying the benefits of it. Dress the part, and enjoy the new-found confidence you would have if the extra money was actually in your pocket. Once again, it eventually becomes part of your subconscious thinking, and you begin to act accordingly, being drawn to the money you are seeking.
I can go on with different examples. If you want happiness, smile, be happy and think happy thoughts. If you want more friends, be a good friend yourself. If you are seeking greater freedom, be the person you would be if you actually had it. It’s all about being what you want. When you are in the best state of mind, you don’t have to worry about what action to take. You just do it, taking inspired action towards the attainment of our desire.
Now that you have this information, I ask again…which is the best state? I think you can answer that it’s the best state of mind that will bring you to your desire. Now if you will excuse me, I have some things to take care of here in the state of New York. Have an excellent day : )
Have you ever completed an obstacle course? I always found them fun, yet frustrating at the same time. I had to go around or through several obstacles in order to reach the finish line. I like the challenge of it, though sometimes it seemed a bit long and drawn out. I began to wonder if I would ever make it to the end : )
Isn’t that how we often consider obstacles in life? There are some challenges we find interesting, and we enjoy the opportunities they present. In other cases, we dread obstacles because they keep us from reaching the finish line of our dreams and goals. In some cases, we get so frustrated that we give up before we even come close to reaching those goals.
Many will ask…how can we avoid allowing these obstacles to prevent us from reaching our goals? I found a powerful quote today that I believe holds the key…”obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off his goal” – Joseph Cossman. The key is to keep your eyes fixed firmly on the goal. When you do this, nothing or no one will be able to stop you from getting where you want to go.
There are many examples of people who refused to let obstacles get in the way. I am a sports lover, and often see athletes that are so determined to win that they play at a level even higher than their normal greatness. You can often see that look in their eyes, and you know nothing or no one is getting in their way of success.
You too will find success if you simply keep focused on the goal. If you do, you won’t even know the obstacles in front of you exist. Even if they linger, you will have little difficulty conquering them.
Many people don’t accomplish their goals because the obstacles they face create doubt and fear. When you remain completely focused on the goal, you don’t leave room for doubt and fear to creep in. Instead, you only leave room for faith and success.
Keep your eyes fixed on the goal, and refuse to take no for an answer. You will see yourself accomplishing more and more success by following this simple formula. Enjoy the blessings : )
Those that know me well would know that I am always looking for better ways to help reach my goals in life. However, as I continue to search, I keep finding the same basic three that every book I read shares in one way or another.
So let’s go back to the basics. Here’s a 3 step process that, when followed, is a great way to bring the success you are seeking:
- Ask – There are so many things I’ve missed in life simply because I didn’t ask. People don’t ask because they feel they don’t deserve what they are looking for, or because they believe there is a quota for the amount of blessings they can receive. I know because I believed this at one point. However, this could not be further from the truth. Just because someone else tells you you’re not entitled to what you want doesn’t mean it’s true. And God loves to bless you thousands of times over. The Bible is filled with invitations to ask for what you want, and that God is more than willing to grant your request. Please ask!
- Believe – How many times in the Bible does someone who asks with faith receive what they are asking? EVERY TIME! The same thing happens in our world today. You’ve heard the expression that you can have anything you put your mind to, right? Well, putting your mind to it means you are demonstrating the faith that you can have or accomplish it. I’ve shared it many times, but there are two great ways to build your faith. One is to use affirmations, which are words and phrases used over and over again to convince your mind that something is true. The other is visualization, where you envision the success you are seeking, and imagine how your life will be when you have what you want.
- Receive – At this point, you’ve done most of what you need to do. Now, it is important to step back and let God do His part. However, it doesn’t mean that you just sit back and do nothing. I believe there are two important parts to this final step. The first is that you allow the good to flow into your life. What I mean by that is that you see yourself as worthy of receiving your desire, and maintain the faith by continually affirming and visualizing. The second is to take any action you are inspired to take. Start living as if you already have what you want. Start feeling the feelings and being thankful like you would if your wish was already granted. You also need to take any action you believe would get you closer to accomplishing the goal.
There are two reasons people don’t receive what they want. The main reason is that they simply don’t follow this simple 3-step formula. The other is because God puts the plans on hold only because He has something even better. You can’t go wrong if you follow this formula. Please don’t be afraid to ask, and have the faith to know that all things are possible to those who believe. Take your small steps, and let God do His work. I guarantee you will succeed and live a life of miracles if you follow these simple three steps. It’s happened over and over in my own life. Enjoy the blessings : )
