How to Have More Wealth Than You Can Imagine

January 24, 2017

It is amazing how every time I ask God for answers He provides them. In many cases, the answers arrive rather quickly. I was recently praying for some extra money to help with some situations that have come up recently. I also prayed for the strength and peace to deal with the situation in a productive way.

When I pray, I find it extremely helpful to ask for some Bible verses that help build my faith and lead me in the right direction. In this case, I was immediately led to the following verse from Job 22:21. The NIV says, “Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.” Exactly what I was looking for! However, it didn’t stop there. The Message version of this same verse really caught my attention… “Give in to God, come to terms with him and everything will turn out just fine. Let him tell you what to do; take his words to heart. Come back to God Almighty and he’ll rebuild your life. Clean house of everything evil. Relax your grip on your money and abandon your gold-plated luxury. God Almighty will be your treasure, more wealth than you can imagine.”

As I read this, I was in awe. The keys to what I was looking for (and perhaps what you are too) are all in this passage. Do you want more wealth than you can imagine? Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Submit to God – leave the details and hard work to Him. Just do what you feel like He is leading you to do.
  2. Listen to (or should I say read) His words. The more you read the Bible and seek your guidance and solutions there, the more clearly you will be led. I simply did a Google search for what I was looking for, and found several guiding words besides these.
  3. Clean house of everything evil. Ask for forgiveness of your sins. He will forgive all and everything. He is only waiting for you to ask. Also, I take this as a cue to remove the negative thinking that may have been been hampering me, and instead think according to His word and promises.
  4. Avoid focusing on money (or whatever your negative circumstance is)– This seems a bit ironic. For me, it was what I was searching for. However, I realize more every day that the more I focus on God and His love and guidance instead of the money or whatever the problem is, the more abundance and solutions show up.

This all reminds me of another popular verse that sums it all up… Seek first the kingdom of God, and all else will be given to you (Matt 6:33). It’s very simple really. The more of your focus and care you put on God, the more He works for you and the darkness turns to light.

I have known this for a long time. I just needed another reminder, and received it plus more. If you are struggling with money or any other negative situation in your life, follow the words of this verse. Seek God and let Him love and guide you. I know from experience that the peace and provision He provides is indeed more than you can imagine. Enjoy the blessings 🙂

A Powerful And Effective Prayer That Works

August 7, 2013

You’ve heard the statement…”there is power in prayer”. Most people believe it. However, even though many believe in prayer’s awesome power, they fail to spend significant time in prayer.

Why is that? I believe there are several reasons. One big  one is that people have busy schedules and try to cram as many things in a day as they can. Unfortunately, they don’t leave time for prayer. I believe one of the biggest reasons people don’t pray often is that they simply don’t know how. And because they don’t know how, they feel intimidated and believe that if they don’t have an all-out fancy prayer to offer, then it’s not good enough.

Please know that nothing can be further from truth. Even a one minute, on the fly prayer is better than no prayer. God is thrilled any time you make an honest effort to pray. However, if you are still looking for a formal, strong prayer that will bring results, I have one to offer.

Most of you are familiar with the Lord’s prayer. It is very effective, especially because Jesus Himself preached it. The prayer I am talking about goes back even before that one. It is the prayer of Nehemiah. It is found in Nehemiah 1:5-11. I take this from an excerpt from my e-book “30 Days To A More Powerful Life” You can get it here at…http://www.lulu.com/content/e-book/30-days-to-a-more-powerful-life/13987192

Here is how the prayer breaks down. Your prayer will be very powerful and effective if it has these elements:

1. Praise/Thanksgiving – Before anything is said or asked for, Nehemiah is praising and thanking God simply for who he is.

2. Forgiveness – I believe God is much more likely to hear and answer our prayer if
we are coming to Him with a humble heart, asking for forgiveness.

3. Specific request – Once his heart is right, it is then that Nehemiah presents his
case before the Lord. He is also specific and detailed in his prayer.

4. Expect the answer and blessing – As the prayer ends it is apparent to me that
Nehemiah expects success and blessing. It is inspiration for us to expect the same. It may not happen the way we might think, but it will.

I have found this to be an extremely helpful prayer formula. It works because you are going into prayer with a pure and positive mind and heart before you ask for what you want. You are able to focus in faith on your desired outcome, and when you expect God to answer in His way, you can move on with confidence after the prayer.

This type of prayer brings results. I will share more detail about that in my next post. In the meantime, I recommend you use this excellent formula for prayer, and watch how the blessings show up. Have an excellent day!

Why Are People So Happy?

April 26, 2013

The above title is indeed an interesting question. The answer is an obvious one, right? People are happy because they are lucky and they’ve been given many great things in life. It’s all chance, right?

If you know me well enough, you know my answer to that response would be…WRONG!!! Happiness is not because of luck or good breaks. The happiest people are that way simply because they choose to be. There’s no luck or chance involved. They simply see the best in all situations, and make the choice that they are going to be happy no matter what.

You may be saying…”come on, that’s it? There must be more! Ok, I agree. There is more. I read a very interesting article today that actually lists common characteristics of happy people. These include being thankful and healthy, being able to stay mentally active, laugh, and forgive, and spending time with other happy people. It all certainly makes sense to me.

The bottom line is that happiness is not a random thing that only happens when things go well. It is a choice, a habit, and a way of being. I challenge you to make the conscious decision to be happy. I understand that sometimes circumstances and people make it difficult. However, you can still choose to see the bright side of things, and keep a smile on your face as much as possible. I know from experience that there’s no greater way to live.

I have included a link to the full article mentioned above. I suggest you check out the list and see how you measure up and how many of the common characteristics you possess. Have a wonderful day : )

The Power Of A Fresh Start

December 3, 2012

One of the things I am most thankful for, is the fact that we are given the chance for a new start every 24 hours. No matter what the days before have been like, this day is new. It’s a chance for something special. It’s the chance to accomplish something you’ve never done before. It’s a beautiful, fresh start.

I was reminded of this fact by some information I received from Joel Osteen. He presents some ideas for a fresh start. I will share those here with you:

F – forgive those who have hurt you. It is unbelievable how liberating this can be. I will also add…be sure to forgive yourself too!

R – refuse to look back. Look forward instead

E – expect God’s best. Starting today!

S – stay in faith, regardless of the current circumstances.

H – hope for tomorrow. In Joel’s words, when you hope, obstacles become opportunities and setbacks become comebacks.

This all sounds like simple, greate advice to me. Use it to your benefit and take advantage of the daily fresh start God gives you. Enjoy the blessings : )

A Powerful Challenge

November 3, 2011

Every once in a while, we experience a day on the job that is memorable, and one of a kind. I experienced that type of day today. At the school I work at, a representative from Colorado spoke about a program called Rachel’s Challenge.

In case you do not know what Rachel’s Challenge is, I will explain. It goes back to the unfortunate school shooting event at Columbine High School. Rachel was one of the students killed. She stood out because after her death, much information was found and shared about the wonderful contributions she had made, the hospitality she showed, and her mission to bring happiness and kindness to everyone she came in contact with. Her family decided to honor her by continuing the contributions she had already made and sharing her positive message with as many people as they could.

The individual that came to our school today spends her time traveling the country sharing the message with schools. The goal is to use this example to create a positive, caring environment. I will say that my school certainly needs this. I was very happy to have this program at my school because I have been praying on a regular basis for some type of positive influence in the school. It’s a great place, but is unfortunately infested with much negativity between students, teachers and students, and worse, teachers and teachers. I saw today’s visit as an answered prayer, as now our school is taking major steps to instill this much needed positivity.

I now share this challenge with those close to me, and anyone reading. With this challenge are five guidelines to showing the same kindness and love that Rachel did. They are:

  • Looking for the best in others. Everyone, no matter how many mistakes they’ve made, has something good about them. The key is to look for it, then focus on it.
  • Treat others as you want to be treated. This rule is “golden”
  • Stick with positive influences. There are so many negative influences out there. We need to be aware of who we allow to influence us. Rachel was influenced by Ann Frank and Martin Luther King. Find positive influences to follow and continue their example.
  • Use positive words only. Sticks and stones will break bones. You think names can never harm? Negative words can scar worse than any broken bone. Positive words can change someone’s life in a matter of seconds. Which influence do you want to be?
  • Forgive yourself and others. We all make mistakes. We have choices. We can allow those mistakes to drag us down. Or we can learn from them and let them go. When we let them go, we release the burdens that prevent us from loving ourselves and others.

As you can see this is not an easy challenge. However, it is definitely doable. I challenge myself and anyone else to do all we can to be this type of person. One who treats others (and ourselves) well, finds only the best in others, and does all they can to make this world a better place.

In the presentation they talked about causing a chain reaction of positive events. By following this example, we can cause a chain reaction of positive events and impacts on the world around us. If I died tomorrow, that’s what I would want to be remembered by. Would you take this challenge today and make your world a better place? If more people did this, our world would be so much more positive. Thank you Rachel for this wonderful model of life.

The First Day Of The Rest Of Our Lives

October 23, 2011

Do you ever have days where you are convinced God is trying to tell you something? It is usually when you hear the same message several times in a day, via several different means. I experienced that today, where I heard the message of the above title in several ways. First, there is a great song by Matt Maher called “Hold Us Together”. The catchiest part of the song is the part where he sings, “this is the first day of the rest of your life”. I am also on several e-mail lists, and this was the message for two that I received today.

I believe this message is an excellent one. It’s a fact. Today is the first day of the rest of our lives. For me it is very comforting and inspiring to know that whatever mistakes I’ve made before today are history. Whatever sins I’ve commited are forgiven as long as I ask for forgiveness. Whatever I failed to do in the past does not have to affect me today.

I’ve said this before, but I am so thankful that God divided time into days. Each day is a clean slate, and another chance to positively affect the present and future. We may not have reached our goals yet, but today we can be one step closer. You may feel that you haven’t been the best person you can be, but today is an opportunity to change that.

Let us take advantage of the opportunity that each day gives us. I believe that is what God is telling me today. I also believe He is telling me to focus on each day and to do all I can to be my best for myself and those around me. It’s true for me, and I challenge anyone else to do the same. After all, this is the first day of the rest of our lives.

Have an excellent day : )

A Positive Path To Freedom

August 24, 2011

I often mention in this blog the power that positive thoughts can bring to our lives. Think positive thoughts, and bring positive results, right?

The problem is that this is sometimes easier said than done. Why? Because there are times where negative thoughts get in the way. They remain in the front of our minds, and the positive thoughts are pushed to the back or are driven out of our minds completely.

After talking to some people lately, I am seeing that many of these negative thoughts are lack of due to lack of forgiveness, especially to themselves. These people get so caught up in the mistakes they’ve made or the people they’ve hurt, and they continuously dwell on them. They don’t think they’re good enough, and as they think these thoughts, they bring more negative situations into their lives. I can vouch for this because I’ve been there at various times of my life.

What’s the solution? Forgive yourself. We’ve all made mistakes, and unfortunately we’ve all hurt people. We’ve done some things we shouldn’t have, and we haven’t done some things we should have. It’s about time to let it go. We can learn from our mistakes, but we cannot dwell on them. If God will forgive us for our worst mistakes (all of our mistakes I should say) then we need to do the same.

What’s the result. First of all, I have found that when I ask God for forgiveness and I forgive myself, I feel a major burden lifted. I feel a kind of freedom that I cannot explain. What’s better, is that the removal of those negative thoughts makes more room for the positive. When we dwell on positive thoughts, great things happen in our lives.

Please don’t let your past mistakes bring you down. Learn from them and take any necessary actions to account for them. However, Once the deeds are done and the apologies are made, let them go. You can’t change the past. You can be positive now, which will result in a positive and productive future. Give yourself that freedom today and enjoy the blessings : )
