How To Develop Personal Power

February 17, 2013

If only I had the power to……go ahead, you fill in the blank. How often have we desired the power to accomplish a particular goal, or be the person we wanted to be, or have something turn out the way we want it to. It would be nice, right?

I am realizing more and more that this power we are seeking exists, and that we can develop it to the point where we have much more control of the outcomes in our life. So how can we develop our personal power? Here’s a very simple two step formula:

  1. Realize that we already have the power we desire. Luke 17:21 says, “the kingdom is God is within you”. That means that the love, power and grace of God Himself is a part of each and every one of us. Once we start realizing that, we experience a major sense of empowerment! I am not God by any means, yet I am still priveledged to receive the power that He willingly provides. That power is far greater than any evil or any obstacle I could ever face in life. Once you consciously realize that you have this power in you, and around you, your faith and confidence will skyrocket.
  2. Positive affirmations. How do we realize and maintain this power in our conscious mind? We do this the same way we incorporate any other belief in our minds. We repeat it over and over. We do the same with any positive thoughts that we want to be part of our normal thinking. Several times a day, repeat the statements you want to be true, and those you want to see manifested in your life. Your subconscious will eventually believe it, and you will then consciously act upon this confidence.

As you can see, the power to accomplish your goals is not missing in your life. You have the power to complete any task or reach any goal you seek. I will say it again…YOU HAVE THE POWER! It’s a matter of tapping into that power and consciously focusing on it. Pray for the direction on where to go, then seek the Spirit’s guidance, and take action with faith and confidence. Use this power for good, and it can take you anywhere. Enjoy the blessings : )

An Extremely Helpful Visualization Technique

January 19, 2013

I have to admit, I have some quirky habits. One is that I am very good at remembering exact months and years that songs were popular. I can hear most songs and pinpoint it almost exactly. Some nights I enjoy listening to songs and deliberately putting myself back to that time in my life. I spend the three minutes or so visualizing the detail…what was I doing, who was I with, what was I watching on tv, where was I working or going to school, what was going on in the world, etc. I am very good at clearly re-living those events, and I actually feel like I went back in time for a few minutes. It definitely elevates my mood as well, and I often wake up the next morning with a smile on my face.

As I return now to 2013, many people talk about how creative visualization can help you accomplish your goals and create the life you are seeking. It’s a great idea, but it’s sometimes difficult for people to envision an event that has never occurred. As a result, they get frustrated, say it doesn’t work, etc. This can bring you further from where you want to be.

Visualization is a very helpful technique, and it has helped me develop the confidence I need and take the action necessary to accomplish goals. As mentioned, it’s not always easy to envision a future event. So how can you make it easier? You can practice by envisioning past events. Go back in time to a pleasant memory. Re-live the details. Where were you? How were you feeling? Who were you with? What were you doing? How did it look, feel, sound, taste, and smell?

It’s much easier to envision a past experience, especially a positive one. The key is to do all of those same things as you visualize a goal that you have for today. See it as if it’s happening. Where are you? How are you feeling? Who are you with? What are you doing? How does it look, feel, sound, taste, and smell?

When you live out your dreams in your mind with vivid details, your subconscious mind begins to believe it. It cannot tell the difference between a real and imagined event, so it’s assuming it’s real. This gives you the confidence you need to take the necessary action. Then you begin seeing results in the real world. It only gets better from there.

People say to avoid living in the past. I believe it’s true, we shouldn’t dwell on the past. However, why not use the same tecnhiques for reliving beautiful memories of the past in detail to create your beautiful life of the future and live the details. After all,,,”It’s a Beautiful Life” (Ace of Bass, December 1995).

Subliminal Success

January 4, 2013

I have recently become intrigued by the concept of subliminal videos. If you are not familiar with subliminal videos, they are videos which show hidden messages. Usually they are positive affirmations that quickly flash on the screen before you can read them or even see them. Some of these messages are also embedded into an audio format, such as ocean waves, thunderstorms, or a fire.

What is the purpose of subliminal videos and audios? And do they work? The purpose of subliminal affirmations is to positively affect the subconscious mind by repeating positive messages over and over again. You may ask, “can’t this be done by self-talk or just reading these messages? Yes, but the problem is this…in many cases your subconscious is so full of negative messages that, when it sees something positive, it doesn’t believe it. For example, suppose you are fully convinced that you are not intelligent. If someone were to tell you that you’re smart, you may think something like, “yeah right”. You don’t believe it, and it doesn’t get through to the subconscious. That’s where subliminal messages are helpful. The positive messages come through and are not stopped by negative thinking. Instead, the positive messages get through to the subconscious. When the subconscious hears and sees something enough, the negative thoughts that embedded are replaced with the positive thoughts you want to have. Eventually, you begin to act on those positive thoughts.

Do subliminal messages work? I am one who believes they do. However, in order to be effective, you need to watch and listen on a regular basis. Once is not enough. Subliminal videos and audios work best when watched on a daily basis for weeks at a time. That allows the positive messages to displace the negative ideas buried deep in the subconscious.

There are many subliminal videos that are available, depending on the area of your life you are trying to change. I choose one in particular to share here  for several reasons. This one is only 8 minutes long, so it doesn’t take a great deal of time. It also provides positive messages about several topics, such as wealth, sales, confidence, and positive thinking. The video messages are subliminal. The audio is not, but it provides very helpful information to back up the visual  messages. I strongly suggest you give it a try. Please let me know what you think. Have an excellent day!

A Teenage Example of The Law of Attraction

September 24, 2012

There are many examples of the Law of Attraction at work. I’m sure you can think of situations in your own life where you experienced situations and outcomes that were a direct of result of your thoughts.

The Law of Attraction tells us that we eventually see things that we think about. I shared an example recently where I had never heard of a certain model of car. However, someone recommended that model of car to me. As a result, after never noticing this car before, I began to see it everywhere. It was part all of a sudden part of my thoughts, and it then became part of my reality.

An interesting situation happened the other day that gave my teenage daughter a taste of the Law of Attraction. Here’s the story…On the way home from work I was alone in my car. I was listening to a CD from Robbie Williams. The CD is from 1999. I hadn’t heard it in a while, and the music from the CD reminds me of this time of year. Robbie Williams is an excellent British singer. However, most people in the U.S. have never even heard of him. My daughters are big fans of the current British group that everyone knows, One Direction. That’s to be expected. However, the unexpected came later when my daughter rode in my car. She saw the Robbie Williams CD and said, “Wow, I can’t believe you have a Robbie Wiiliams CD in here!”

I was in shock as I heard these words. At first I thought she was being sarcastic, and I even questioned her about it. She was serious. I couldn’t figure it out. How can a 15 year old American girl know who Robbie Williams is, especially years after he was popular? Her answer was that one of the members of One Direction had made a reference and comparison to Robbie Williams and an old boy band he was in back in the 90s (The group was called Take That).

My daughter never had any awareness of Robbie Williams. However, this comment made her aware of the name. Due to the fact that a One Direction member said it, it caught her attention and focus. It was now part of her thoughts. As she maintained that thought, it eventually became part of her reality as she later had an actual Robbie Williams CD in her hands!

This is how the Law of Attraction works all of the time. The above example was a coincidental example of the Law. The best part is that you can use it deliberately. You can use it to create the life you want to live. You can use it to add greatness to your life and the lives of others. The key is to maintain positive, confident, and faithful thoughts. Deliberately think about the things you want to experience in your life, and avoid thinking about the things you don’t want. It’s as simple as that.

What do you want to accomplish in life? See it happening in your thoughts. Yes, it is important to plan and act. However, it all starts with your thoughts. I will remind you again, that what you think about manifests in your life. This is true whether your thoughts are good or not. Knowing this, why not keep your thoughts focused on the accomplishment of your goals. See success, and like the car or CD I mentioned, you will see it happening in your life.

If you will excuse me, I’m going to relax, finish listening to the CD, and visualize success. I invite you to do the same. Enjoy the blessings : )

What Do You Accept?

August 30, 2012

When I was a student back in high school, each of my teachers had different standards of work they would accept. With some, I could easily get by handing in mediocre work. The standards of other teachers were much higher, so I had to submit higher quality work. The assignments I did were based on the “acceptability” standards of each teacher.

As I reflect on this years later, I realize that all of us as human beings can relate to the above example. Instead of school work, I relate it to life circumstances. For example, some people accept mediocre circumstances. They may not exactly want below average results, but they still accept them without trying to move ahead. Other people will not accept procrastination, or lack of success. Instead, their standards are higher and they will only accept high quality circumstances.

Where do you fall here? Are you unsatisfied with unfulfilled potential and unaccomplished goals? Do you just accept this fate and believe there is nothing you can do to move ahead? If so, I challenge you to increase the standards you accept in your life. Raise your level of expectation and ideals of success. Don’t accept just average. Only accept the absolute best for yourself.

You may be agreeing with me, but are unsure how to proceed. I am not always sure either. However, what helps me is prayer and reflection. Keep in mind that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Look to this power you have to take you to the higher level. Pray for the direction to go, then take the steps to get there in the unlimited power of the Spirit. The next step is to envision the success you are seeking. When you visualize success, it becomes engrained into your subconscious. Once that happens, you will only accept the ideal circumstances that you are seeking. You will no longer accept the status quo, even though that is still what you may be seeing. However, with persistence, that will soon change.

I believe these steps are simple and helpful. I don’t know about you, but I am done accepting anything except the ideal circumstances I am seeking. God has so many great things in store for my life, and for yours too. Look to His power, have faith, and act with confidence. As a result, your life will not be average any more. Enjoy the blessings : )

3 Power Steps To The Next Level

August 8, 2012

I am a firm believer in doing what it takes to bring life to a higher level. I am very happy with many things in life, but at the same time, average just doesn’t do it for me anymore. Many posts I write here are geared to help my readers and I take life to a higher level.

I received a newsletter from one of my favorite pastors/authors Joel Osteen the other day. It is titled, “3 Keys To Experiencing the Next Level”. As you can imagine, it certainly had my attention in a hurry! I found the information very helpful and interesting, and I would like to share it with you. Here are the 3 keys Joel mentions:

  1. Believe that God has great things in store for you and wants to bless you. He quotes Psalm 37:4 which says..take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
  2. Release every negative thought and bad experience to God and trust His plan. The verse he mentions here is 2 Corintians 5:17…if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new is here.
  3. Receive the promises of God for your life and live with confidence. He uses Matthew 21:22 which says…you can pray for anything, and if you have faith you will receive it.

I agree with Joel Osteen and firmly believe God wants to take us to a higher level in our lives. I find his 3 step process very helpful, and very simple to do consistently. It can certainly work for you too. For more information on this, go to http://JoelOsteen.com/elevate

A Faithful Defintion

August 2, 2012

There are many words in our language that have several defintions. One such word is faith. When you ask someone to define this word, you may receive a different interpretation from each person you ask.

For most words, knowing the defintion is nice, but usually no big deal. Knowing the true definition of this faith words could be potentially life-changing. We look up most words in the dictionary. However, I believe this one is best looked up in the Bible. It is defined as the confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1). Another translation says it makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see.

Breaking this down, I see it as two things. One is confidence that what we are hoping for will come about. It is also a confidence that our desires will be realized even though we cannot yet see it. It’s a simple definition to me.

Knowing this defintion and living by it can have powerful impacts on your life. When you are confident that things will turn out your way, even if you can’t see it yet, you tend to act in a way that brings success. Also, there are countless stories in the Bible about people who were rewarded for their great faith. Please know that those stories continue in today’s world.

You may ask…can I develop my faith? If so, how? The answer…you certainly can! Besides prayer and asking for divine help in that area, you can also develop your own faith. When you visualize success in your mind, you are developing proof of it, even though you don’t see it in reality yet. This then helps create the assurance of what you hope for. Do this on a regular basis, and your faith will grow. It’s worked for me. If you don’t believe me, try it for yourself. As your faith grows, you will see miracles in your own life.

Many people have dreams, but lack the faith to carry it out. Focusing on this definition for your desires can help you create that faith. Your faith will grow as your successes pile up. I can tell you in faith that it’s true : )
