You’re Being Set Up

August 13, 2013

Do you ever get the feeling that you’re being set up for something? It can be scary, right? I am here to tell you that you are indeed being set up for something. That something is greatness and blessing. I can assure you that it’s nothing to be scared of!

The more I read the stories of the Bible, the more I see how God uses every circumstance in our life to set us up for greatness. Yes, even those negative situations that are driving you crazy and stressing you out. Everything that is happening in your life is setting you up for the greatness that God has planned for you.

What’s your responsibility? Just realize it. Instead of complaining or getting down when things don’t go your way, or taking the good things for granted, be thankful. I’ve said it before…an attitude of gratitude takes the strife out of life. Be thankful that you are being set up for greatness. Think positive thoughts and pray about what steps to take. Then take them, once again knowing that you are being led to where you need to be.

Remember, you are being set up. Set up for greatness as long as you believe it and follow along. Enjoy the blessings : )

Getting Ready For Christmas…In June?

June 5, 2013

I realize we are as far away from Christmas as we can be at this time. The hustle and fast pace is long past us, and several months away from returning.

So why am I talking about Christmas now? I was reminded of  God’s gift-giving process, and how it resembles the anticipation of receiving a gift at Christmas. Please allow me to explain. When I was a child, I can remember certain gifts I really wanted. Some of them I knew I wanted months before Christmas. I was fortunate that, if I asked for something within reason, my parents would come through with the desired gift.

When I would “wish” on Christmas gifts, there was always a process:

  1. Determine what I wanted.
  2. Ask for it
  3. Imagine the fun and enjoyment I would receive from the gift
  4. Having the faith the I would receive it at the appointed time.
  5. Enjoy the gift

As I thought about this, I meditated on the fact that this is how we receive gifts in life today. I realize further that all of the great gifts I have today were received as I followed this formula.

What gifts are you seeking today? I realize it’s not Christmas yet, but God is ready to provide gifts on a daily basis. You can receive the gifts you seek by following this formula. Determine exactly what you want; Ask for it in prayer. Envision the enjoyment of receiving the gift, and act as positively as you would if you already had it; Know that you will receive it in due time, and enjoy the anticipation of the gift arriving. Be thankful and enjoy the gift when you receive it.

The Bible says that God loves providing gifts for His children, as long as they ask. It says that, just as we imperfect people would never give a snake if our child asked for a fish, or a stone if they ask for bread, God being perfect and loving would never do that for us. He is ready and willing to give the most beautiful gifts when we ask Him.

I highly recommend you meditate on this gift receiving formula today. Know that God is waiting for you to ask and believe for the greatest gifts he has for you. I wish you the best. Now I need to go Christmas..I mean summer…. Have a wonderful day : )

How Should Life Be?

May 22, 2013

People often wonder how life is supposed to be. It may be a difficult question to answer because circumstances in life change so quickly. Sometimes it seems like just when things start going well, something happens to turn the tide the other way.

I am learning more and more that life is supposed to be wonderful. God intended that we live an abundant life. The Bible says He has great plans for us to prosper. A great quote I read from “The Secret” says, “life can and should be phenomenal..and it will be when you consciously apply the Law of Attraction”.

Let me repeat that…life is supposed to be phenomenal! It can be, regardless of reasons you can come up with that it isn’t. The key is at the end of the quote. Applying the law of attraction means maintaining positive thoughts and emotions. It means seeing the world as an abundant, ever-growing place, and acting as if you already have what you want or need.

Can I say it again? Life is supposed to be phenomenal. I challenge you to focus on the goodness of every circumstance, even if it doesn’t go your way. There is at least some good in everything. Do your absolute best to focus on the greatness of yourself and those around you. It’s amazing how, when you focus your mind on the highest things, the phenomenal life begins to manifest.

The phenomenal life is made and ready for all of us. Will you see it and be it? Enjoy the phenomenal blessings God provides for you today : )

How Worthy Am I?

May 18, 2013

I have learned by now when God is trying to tell me something. It is often when I see and hear the same message in many different places in a short period of time. That message over the last few days has to do with worthiness.

I have learned a great deal about how to succeed, and my level of success has dramatically increased in recent times. However, I believe I am selling myself short of even greater things, simply because I don’t feel I am worthy of that greatness.

You may feel the same way. I know many people do. Besides the many messages I’ve seen about the topic lately, here’s an excellent quote that really sheds light on the topic…

“Do you truly believe in the worthiness of your dreams? Do you truly think they are worth the consistent effort required to make them manifest? Once you truly believe, nothing can stop you but yourself, for such belief is the same power which creates and maintains all existence.” ― Stephen Richards

It’s the last line of this quote that truly grabs my attention…”this belief is the same power which creates and maintains all existence”. It tells me that when we have faith, we are thinking the way God thinks…that all things are possible. We also summon this unlimited power into our lives to manifest the greatness and success we are seeking.

In God’s eyes, we are all worthy. After all, He created us for greatness. Don’t you think you are worthy of it? Why would He create you for anything less? I challenge you to focus on your worthiness. The Bible says God is more than willing to give us great and beautiful gifts (Matthew 7). All we have to do to receive them is ask. No strings attached. That sounds like worthiness to me.

What is your desire today? Imagine yourself living with that desire already fulfilled. Know that you are worthy of it simply because of who you are…a wonderful, Godly creation. Enjoy the blessings : )

As I was searching for messages about worthiness, I found some excellent quotes. This site in particular had some beautiful ones I wanted to share. Have an excellent day : )

3 Steps To Receiving What You Want

May 11, 2013

Those that know me well would know that I am always looking for better ways to help reach my goals in life. However, as I continue to search, I keep finding the same basic three that every book I read shares in one way or another.

So let’s go back to the basics. Here’s a 3 step process that, when followed, is a great way to bring the success you are seeking:

  1. Ask – There are so many things I’ve missed in life simply because I didn’t ask. People don’t ask because they feel they don’t deserve what they are looking for, or because they believe there is a quota for the amount of blessings they can receive. I know because I believed this at one point. However, this could not be further from the truth. Just because someone else tells you you’re not entitled to what you want doesn’t mean it’s true. And God loves to bless you thousands of times over. The Bible is filled with invitations to ask for what you want, and that God is more than willing to grant your request. Please ask!
  2. Believe – How many times in the Bible does someone who asks with faith receive what they are asking? EVERY TIME! The same thing happens in our world today. You’ve heard the expression that you can have anything you put your mind to, right? Well, putting your mind to it means you are demonstrating the faith that you can have or accomplish it. I’ve shared it many times, but there are two great ways to build your faith. One is to use affirmations, which are words and phrases used over and over again to convince your mind that something is true. The other is visualization, where you envision the success you are seeking, and imagine how your life will be when you have what you want.
  3. Receive – At this point, you’ve done most of what you need to do. Now, it is important to step back and let God do His part. However, it doesn’t mean that you just sit back and do nothing. I believe there are two important parts to this final step. The first is that you allow the good to flow into your life. What I mean by that is that you see yourself as worthy of receiving your desire, and maintain the faith by continually affirming and visualizing.  The second is to take any action you are inspired to take. Start living as if you already have what you want. Start feeling the feelings and being thankful like you would if your wish was already granted. You also need to take any action you believe would get you  closer to accomplishing the goal.

There are two reasons people don’t receive what they want. The main reason is that they simply don’t follow this simple 3-step formula. The other is because God puts the plans on hold only because He has something even better. You can’t go wrong if you follow this formula. Please don’t be afraid to ask, and have the faith to know that all things are possible to those who believe. Take your small steps, and let God do His work. I guarantee you will succeed and live a life of miracles if you follow these simple three steps. It’s happened over and over in my own life. Enjoy the blessings : )

What Has He Done?

April 4, 2013

Ah, the beauty of blogging : ) I say that because what I’m about to write here today has nothing to do what I originally intended. It’s happened before, and it’s one of the quirks of writing that fascinates me.

As far as my intended topic today, that will have to wait. Instead, I write about something I read about twice in today’s Bible reading. Usually, that means God is trying to tell me something. Since He told it to me, I will share with you.

The first reading is from Deuteronomy. Moses is about to die, and he is giving a farewell address to the people. In this address, He reminds the people of all the great things God has done for them and all of the miracles they’ve witnessed. I then read Psalm 78. The message was the same! It was a reminder of the great things God has done for the people up until that time. I will say that I did not purposely read these verses. It just so happens that they were scheduled for today on the one year Bible plan I am using. Coincidence, however? I don’t think so.

This caused me to reflect on my life today. In one sense I have a very happy life. In another sense, I am far short of some of my goals, and I seek greater things. I may be getting a bit personal here, but it definitely helps communicate my point. I take the 6 main areas of my life and what I am shooting for:

1. God – As good as it is, my faith can certainly be better.
2. Family – I am still not the family leader I believe I could be.
3. Money – I am still far from the goals I have set.
4. Career – My dream is to touch thousands of lives a day by writing from home or traveling to speak and motivate others. Not there yet.
5. Health – I want to be in better shape and have more energy.
6. Friends/Extended Relatives – I strive to be a better friend and relative.

Am I complaining about the things I mentioned above? Not really. I’m just saying I am striving for great things. However, as I thought about this today, here is what I was reminded of:

1. God – Jesus died for me, and God is extremely proud of this creation. I am special and worthy in His eyes.
2. Family – I have been blessed with the most wonderful family. Better than I could have ever asked for.
3. Money – I have a house, two cars, computers, smart phones, readily available food and clothing. That means I’m richer than 90% of the rest of the world.
4. Career – Although politics have ruined it, and I strive for greater things, my dream job was to be a teacher. I am in my 10th year teaching, and I write this on my Spring break.
5. Health – I look and feel better than I should for someone my age. Also, I have never had any major injuries or sickness in these first 46 years. Neither has anyone else in my immediate family.
6. I am blessed with the most wonderful relatives and friends.

I don’t say this to brag by any means. I haven’t done anything to deserve it, and they are all gifts from above. I say it as a reminder based on what I read today. Let us look back on our lives and realize how much God has done for us. Let us remember the miracles He has already done as we seek greater ones. Even if your life has been difficult, there are things I’m sure you can find that are blessings.

One final thought is this…it has been proven to me that the more thankful we are for what we have and the more we reflect on what God has already done, the more the blessings continue to pour into our lives. I challenge you to reflect on the miracles you have seen in your life, and the great places you’ve been, whether you can count them on one hand, or you have a long list. Focus on them and be thankful for them. If you do, you can expect more to come. Enjoy!

What Kind Of Advice Is That?

April 2, 2013

So you have questions and need advice on how to make great things happen in your life? How effective would it be if the advice I provided was to let someone else do it for you? I acknowledge that it wouldn’t be the best advice.

I am about to be a hypocrite. I just admitted that the above advice would be a very poor recommendation, but I am now providing it to you. Are you looking for greatness and miracles in your life? Continue reading to see why the hypocritical advice provided might be your best option.

As I read about the miracles in the New Testament, I realize a pattern. In almost every case, the pattern is the same. The person simply asks, demonstrates faith, and follows some simple instructions. Then they simply let Jesus do His thing, and the miracle takes place.

If you are looking to accomplish particular goals or if you desperately need a miracle, I suggest you follow this same formula. Pray and state specifically what you want. Have faith and know that with God nothing is impossible. Do whatever you are inspired to do. Then have the faith to leave the rest in God’s hands, and let Him do the rest for you. He is the one that has the unlimited power to make the miracle happen.

As I read these miracle Bible stories again and again, I cannot find a single one where this formula did not result in a miracle. Every time someone asked, had faith, completed their small task, and left it to God to do the rest, they received the miracle they were seeking.

Please know that these same miracles take place today. If you want to see them in your life, you can simply follow the steps outlined above. In God’s time, your miracle will happen. If it’s not exactly what you wanted, it will only be something better!

I would love to hear about the miracles in your life. Please share when they occur. Also, if any of you would like additional prayer, I would be happy to do so for you. In the meantime, enjoy the blessings : )

The Number One Way To Distinguish Yourself

February 16, 2013

Do you ever have days or weeks where certain words and phrases are constantly thrown in your direction? It seems like everywhere you look you see those words. I’ve learned by now that, when that heppens for me, I need to pay attention.

One such word is “distinguish”. I keep seeing this word in books, blogs, tv, my job, you name it. Ok, so God is telling me I need to distinguish myself. So what does that mean? I looked up the exact definition of distinguished, and it says…made easily seen or noticed by excellence. In other words, someone who stands out and rises above the average or just getting by. Instead, they are noticed and known for their excellence.

Wow! I was blown away by that definition. I prayed..ok, God how do I get to that level? I will simply say that when you ask, God answers. He led me to one of my favorite books, “Relentless” by John Bevere. I like to re-read this book every once in a while, and as I did, the words on page 49 jumped out at me. It talks about the story of Daniel in the Bible and how he distinguished himself (that exact word used). It is defined in the book as “he completely outclassed the other leaders”.

If you know the story of Daniel you know how true this is. How did he do it? The answer is a few lines below. It says he was totally connected to God. The book adds, ” he was disciplined in staying in close, continual touch with the Creator.”

Therein lies the secret of distinguishing yourself; of standing out and rising above the crowd. The more you are in touch with your Creator, and rely on the unlimited power He provides, the more you will distinguish yourself. When you “seek Him first” (Matt 6:33), everything else falls into place.

I challenge you to seek and follow your creator today, and to stay in close, continual touch. You will be blessed as a result. Have a great day : )

A Refreshing Spiritual Workout

October 1, 2012

I am someone who is always looking for ways to refresh the soul, and I’m sure I am not alone. After all, this is our main connection to our Creator. The more refreshed your soul is, the greater your connection to your Source.

I read an article in the Pentacostal Evangel by Paul Louis Cole (7/8/12, p. 11-13) that provided excellent advice on how to refresh your soul and maximize your Heavenly connection. The author mentions the importance of finding time for physical exercise to refresh the body. He advises that we must also find time to exercise and build up the soul. The following are tips to do just that:

  • Turn off…the news, and any other negative media.
  • Turn on…messages of faith, peace, and uplifting power.
  • Read…he especially encourages Proverbs in the morning, and Psalms at night. Of course a thorough reading of scripture and meditating on it is necessary too. I will also recommend any other positive reading material that will uplift the mind and soul.
  • Encourage others.
  • Pray for yourself and others on a regular basis.
  • Declare faith over your life.
  • Stay connected through church, small groups, and communication.
  • Listen to positive music and encouraging messages.
  • Do the smart, wise things in all aspects of your life.
  • Decrease debt as fast as possible and never get there again.
  • Tithe regularly and find other opportunities to give financially or any way you can.

I found this to be excellent advice and felt the need to share. These concepts may seem simple, yet how many times do we get caught up in the fast pace and negativity of life? By focusing on these ideas, you can add positivity to your life and be a light to others around you. As mentioned, you are strengthening your Spiritual connection. This will add much blessing to your life, and others will feel the positive vibration and want to be a part of your positive world. I definitely recommend you find the time each day for your spiritual workout. Enjoy the blessings : )

What Are You Worried About? – 3 Ways To Turn Worry Into Faith

January 16, 2012

Many of us do it. It’s a fact and a reality that many of us worry. Even those of us who look on the bright side of things and whose lives are under control still sometimes spend time worrying. Is it wrong to worry? I don’t know if I would say wrong, but I do know that it does us no good at all. Matthew 6:34 says…”Do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it’s own.” If you go back to verse 27 it says…”who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”

I have found that it does not pay to worry. Instead, there are numerous verses throughout the Bible that describe how faith (the opposite of worry) can add so much to our lives and to those around us. As I continue to study ways to bring life to a higher level, I have found several ways to turn worry into faith. Here are the top 3:

  1. Seek God first – In my opinion, this is the key to all success in life. In the same Bible chapter, verse 31 says…”So do not worry saying ‘What shall we eat or what shall we drink?’ …For your Heavenly Father knows that you need these things. But seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be given to you as well” When we focus on God and His power that is in and around us, we focus on the positive things instead of the negative obstacles in front of us. Instead of worrying about the negative things that may happen to us, we focus on the accomplishment of the goals we have in our lives. Also, when we are consciously aware of the presence and power of God, we have an enormous peace, and we will be led to the right people and the right areas to take action. More about that coming up shortly.
  2. Focus on the present – If we are placing our full attention on the present moment, it is impossible to worry. This is because we are not thinking about things that can possibly go wrong in the future, even if that future is only a few minutes away. The present moment is what we have to work with, and is the only time frame that is fully in our control. If we make the most out of every present moment, it secures our future, giving us even less of a reason to worry. It is the people who best take advantage of present moments that receive the greatest future rewards.
  3. Take action now – This step goes had in hand with the first two. As mentioned, when we seek God first, He leads us to the people who can help us and places and situations where we need to act. However, it is up to us to follow through and take that action. As mentioned in step two, it is when we focus and act fully on the present moment, and do the best we can at that time when great blessings take place. The even better thought is this…when we follow the first two steps, taking action is so much easier. This is because we are taking God-inspired action, we know His power is with us, and we have the peace of knowing it is His will because it is for His kingdom and glory. This is when miraces happen.

In my opinion, these are three very simple steps to take, especially knowing what the rewards are. This philosophy is great too because it doesn’t take weeks or months to implement. It can be done in minutes, and as we continue to focus on God first, keep our eyes on the present, and do our best in everything at that time, it will be a habitual way of life. The result is great faith and blessing instead of worry, doubt, and procrastination. It can be effective for anyone. Let it be you today. Have a blessed day : )
