The Ring of Favor

May 28, 2014

It’s been some time since I’ve had the opportunity to write. Life has been a bit of a whirlwind and I’ve let some things get in the way of what I really like to do. However, through it all God continues to speak to me and I continue to listen and learn.

All of us crave God’s favor, don’t we? I know I often need to be assured that God is with me, (especially during these busy times) and I’ve learned that he wants to generously pour out His favor on us.

I’ve been shown a Bible verse that has really inspired me lately, and I cling to it through all of the recent craziness. Psalm 5:12 says “surely Lord you bless the righteous and you surround them with your favor as with a shield” Psalm 84:11 says basically the same thing… “for the Lord God is a sun and shield; He bestows favor and honor, and no good thing does He withhold from those who walk righteously”.

I find this very comforting and hope I can bestow some of this upon you. I am surrounded by God’s favor. I am told it’s like a shield around me. And if there is any doubt about my righteousness? I’m far from perfect. However, I am a Christian, and I believe that I am righteous because of what Jesus has done. As a result of this righteousness, I qualify for this freely given favor of God.

Freely given favor of God. It’s for me and anyone else simply for the asking, and simply for the knowing that it’s there. We are surrounded by it. My challenge for me and you is to constantly be aware of this ring of favor around us. Sense God’s presence and bask in the blessing of this favor. Now as crazy as life gets, we can know it’s all for our good, and greater things are on the way. Enjoy the blessings ūüôā

The Power of Mind Nurturing

February 8, 2014

“Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go higher than you think” – Benjamin Desraeli

Are you looking to take yourself to a higher level? The above quote is yet another reminder that increasing the quality of your life begins with increasing the quality of your thoughts. It’s unbelievable what a simple concept this is. Yet why do so many fail to do it?

There are two reasons people struggle to maintain positive thoughts. One is that they allow the negatives to take precedence. Two is simply a matter of not taking the time to do it. Knowing that increasing the quality of your thoughts enhances the quality of your life, why would you not take the time to do it? It’s a question I finally got around to asking myself in recent years. I have realized that we need to spend quality time each day deliberately increasing the quality of our thoughts.

I recommend your remain focused on the opening quote. How high and how positive can you allow yourself to think? Realize that whatever level that is, God can not only take you to that level, but He will one up you. Ephesians 3:20 in the Bible says that God will provide immeasurably more than you can ever think or ask. So why not consistently imagine the most beautiful, ideal thoughts that you can possibly think of?

The key to a high quality, joyful life is to spend time nurturing the garden of your mind. Pull out any negative weeds, then plant and water seeds of positivity, love, and success. Eventually they will grow to heights above and beyond what you could have ever imagined. Enjoy the blessings ūüôā

The Joy of Having Your Wish Now

January 15, 2014

What would it feel like if you received your greatest wish right now? Seriously think about the answer to that question in a real, non-wishful way. Would you be thankful? Joyful? Feel more free? Have more confidence? Spend a few minutes reflecting and actually feeling those feeling.

What you just did in this exercise is what many faith and Law of Attraction experts say is the key to manifesting your desires in the fastest way possible. They say if you can consistently play the part and act “as if”, it’s only a matter of time before your goal is realized.

If you prefer Biblical evidence, I present my favorite verse which is Mark 11:24… therefore I tell you whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have already received it and it will be yours. Other verses say that you can have anything you desire if you have faith. What is faith? Knowing what you want and believing in the unseen and unrealized.

How do we develop this faith and knowledge that our goal is already realized? Several books provide an example of acting as if you’ve ordered from a catelogue. When you place your order, you know your item will eventually arrive. You don’t keep orderding and checking to see if it worked. When you plant a seed, you don’t constantly check to see if it’s working and the plant is growing, do you?

An even more powerful tip to help develop the feeling of success is provided by Ben Sweetland in his book, “Make Money While You Sleep”. He says to imagine that someone handed you a check for a million dollars. How would you feel? You would feel rich, free, grateful, and whatever else comes to your mind. However, there’s a slight problem. Does a check for a million dollars clear immediately? Is the money available right away? I’ve never had a check for that amount, but my knowledge of banking tells me it would take several days to clear and to actually have the money. However, that wouldn’t stop you from feeling rich, would it? You would still feel those positive feelings knowing that it was just a matter of time before the money was actually in your possession.

Herein lies the key to receiving what you desire. Feel and act like you’ve already placed the order or deposited the check. Live in the anticipation that it’s only a matter of time before the wish is realized. Keep alert for actions to take or places to go to make it happen. However, never lose focus of the fact that if you believe you already have what you want and play the “as if” part, you can count the fulfilment of your desire as imminent.

I ask you again…what would it feel like if your wish was fulfilled right now? Focus on those feelings and be that person that is living his or her dream. It’s possible for every one of us. Enjoy the blessings ūüôā

Celebrating Our Oneness

December 30, 2013

As we come close to another New Years celebration, I continued a tradition last night. I have a video (VHS) copy of the ABC 2000 celebration when Peter Jennings spent 23 straight hours on the air showing the millennium celebrations from all over the world.

I have always been very interested in other people and countries from around the world, so on that last night of 1999 I was absolutely captivated by what I was watching. I am still very interested in other people and cultures which is why I continue to enjoy this wonderful video now 14 years later.

In recent months, this interest in other people has been taken one step further. Why is it so important to love and serve other people? This is a question that’s been running inside my head, and I believe God is trying to talk to me about. Besides the fact it’s what he wants, I am seeing the bigger picture.

Especially lately, God has shown me that His spirit dwells in each of us. We all carry a part of Him wherever we go. Since it’s the same spirit, you and I all have something in common. We are from the same source. In essence, we are connected. A more simple, to the point example comes from Ephesians 4:25 which according to the amplified version says, “we are all parts of one body and members of one another”. In another words, I take this as saying we are all parts of the same whole. This connects us all.

What exactly does this mean? I have learned that what we do as a part affects the whole. I once read from author Wayne Dyer that, if we keep our attitude positive and loving and maintain a positive emotional state, we can automatically impact hundreds if not thousands of people in a positive way. At first I didn’t understand, but once I learned this concept of oneness, it made total sense. Think about this again. Simply by being your best self, you not only make things good for you and your “part”, but you affect the whole, thus impacting many other people.

I believe this is why you get what you give in life. When you give, you are giving to a part of¬†the whole that you are already part of. In essence, you are giving to yourself. Does this make sense? In essence, when you make other people better you also make yourself better. I don’t know about you, but once I realized this it made me so much more willing to give and serve. I know that I am not giving to get something I return. I know that when I give, I am enhancing the spirit of God that we are all a part of. Since I am a part of it too, I benefit as well. The same is true for you.

As mentioned, I have always loved and appreciated people from everywhere. One of the great things about this blog is that I am able to meet and interact with people from all over the world, and I treasure that opportunity. I challenge you to see things in the new light I mention here. Realize that you are connected to everyone through the Spirit of God that is part of all of us. This goes for your friends and family, to the homeless person living on the street, or that person that gave you a dirty look at the supermarket, your angry boss, or whoever. Remember this fact the next time you begin to judge. Instead, I challenge you to appreciate that oneness and do all you can to add to it. You are a part of it, so you will certainly benefit from your positive actions. Enjoy the blessings : )

A New Look On Faith

July 18, 2013

I have read through the entire Bible several times. There are some stories and verses that it has taken me several times to read before I fully understood their message.

I was reading one such chapter today. My one year Bible reading took me to Romans 4. It talks about Abraham and how he was extremely faithful. I’ve always read this with the attitude that I already know about Abraham and his faithful deeds. What can I learn from this?

First I will say this…when you ask God “what can I learn” be prepared for an answer. He loves providing new knowledge! As I opened myself for this knowledge today, I certainly received a new enlightenment.

If you are looking for a definition of what faith is, I will point out some details from this Bible chapter that describes part of Abraham’s story. First of all, he was promised by God that his offspring would be like the number of stars in the sky. God asked him to move to another land and do other things to make it happen. Abraham did those things even though he didn’t see the outcome yet. In fact, he didn’t even have any kids yet.

Speaking of kids, there was an issue with that. His wife couldn’t have any, and he was 100 years old. So how could he have descendants like the number of stars? I believe the key comes in verse 20. It says…he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had the power to do what He had promised.

As it turned out, because of this great faith, this 100 year old man was able to conceive a child through his barren wife who was well past the age of child bearing herself. As it turned out, the descendants of an entire nation can be traced to this one man. Why? All simply because he fully believed that God had the power to do what He promised. He then followed through and took action in the power of that promise.

If you are looking to build your faith, or get a better understanding of what faith is, I can think of no better example than this one. Please know that God delivers on His promises. One Bible verse says God has nothing but great and prosperous plans for you. Another says all you have to do is ask in prayer, and He provides great and wonderful gifts for His children. Another says all things are possible if you believe. There are tons more.

I challenge you now to be fully persuaded that God has the power to follow through on these promises, even though you can’t yet see the successful outcome. He can do it in anyone’s life, including yours. Follow this example of the great man of God who was blessed because he believed this concept. I have faith that God will provide blessings beyond your belief. Have an excellent day!
