Using Mental Capacity to Enhance Spiritual Capacity

There are several Bible verses that stand out to me as being hard to believe, but powerful once I do believe it. One such verse is John 14:12, which says “whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” For a long time, I questioned this. How could I do greater works than Jesus? No one can do that! However, over the years I have learned that if the Bible says it, it’s true. And, it’s Jesus Himself who said it!

This is a hard concept for many people to grasp. The struggle is the same as it was for me. After reading about all of the great miracles Jesus did, it is just too difficult to imagine myself or anyone doing greater things. However, here is how it happens… Because Jesus went to the Father, He sent His spirit to us. This spirit is the very spirit of God. The great thing about it (one of many great things) is that this spirit is everywhere all the time. During His time on earth, Jesus in His human form had the same time and space limits as we do. However, this spirit of God lives in us, and it moves with us wherever we go. It’s power is omnipresent and without limit, so there is nothing it can’t do!

The bottom line is that our spiritual capacity is unlimited. We can do all things through this spirit. We have everything we could ever need through this same spirit. That is a fact that is outlined in many different places in the Bible. So why do we seem to lack the power we need? Why don’t we see more of this power in action in our lives? It is simply because of a lack of belief in it. What we need to do is to open up our mental capacity to free the unlimited spiritual capacity. We need to believe that we walk in unison with the unlimited, omnipresent spirit of God.

You may be asking now, OK, great! This is great to know. But how do we use our mental means to unleash the unlimited spiritual power that’s in and around us? I believe there are many ways. However, here are the main ones that work for me and have really brought a greater awareness of and has helped to maximize the great power of God that is available to us. I have included links to articles I have written about each in case you would like more detailed information about them…

  1. Get to know the word of God. This is important, and will help even more with the other ideas I will mention. The more you know what God says about you, His truths, and His character, the more your faith is developed. I suggest a New Testament reading plan to get started (there are many great Bible apps that have these), or whatever works best for you. The more you learn about the words and messages of the Bible, the more empowered you will be.
  2. Positive Affirmations. – Affirmations are words and phrases you repeat to yourself on a regular basis. As you continue to say them, they start to sink in to your subconscious mind. They replace any negative, untruthful thoughts, and you start to believe them. And as you believe them, you act on them.Your current beliefs were formed by words that were repeated by others or yourself. In this case you’re just doing it deliberately with thoughts that you want to believe.
  3. Hypnosis – I will be writing more about this topic in the near future. In the past, I have used hypnosis to make positive life changes. I have recently re-discovered its power and benefits, and it can really be used in a positive way to change your thinking and develop the faith necessary for an empowering life.
  4. Visualization – This is another form of hypnosis, it’s just usually done in a more awake state. Like hypnosis and affirmations, the goal is to change the dominant thoughts of the subconscious mind that ultimately determine your actions.

A very effective practice I have learned is to combine your knowledge with the powerful word of God with some of these mind altering methods. Constantly repeat some of your favorite Bible verses. Visualize yourself being empowered and making great impacts by utilizing some of the great ideas of the Bible. See yourself accomplishing great things in the power of the spirit.

I will say once again that your spiritual capacity is unlimited. The key to maximizing that unlimited power is getting your mind right, and using its capacity to align with the spiritual. That allows you to do even greater things than Jesus. Enjoy the blessings 🙂

How To Receive The Absolute Best

November 12, 2013

I am lucky enough to be on some great mailing lists from people who provide excellent information and advice about personal development and mind power. I received a great e-mail today that I wanted to share with my readers…

Be your best and you’ll get the best.

That’s because you’ll not only attract what you are you’ll
also get what you give.

Give your best and you’ll get the best in return.

So give your best, I mean really be your best when ever you can.

Be the best employee, the best father, mother, brother, sister,
husband, wife, son, daughter, business person, entrepreneur,
student, professional, – just be the best you can and you’ll
end up attracting the best.

People will recognize your efforts and come to help you be even
better than you are today – so that you get more and have more.

By being your best you also program your subconscious mind
to go out and bring you the best. You’re telling your subconscious and
your inner powers that you want the best, you’re giving your best and
you expect nothing but the best in return.

You then give your subconscious mind no choice but to go out
and bring you the best so that you always have the best and get the best.

Now sometimes your best won’t be good enough.
When that happens, learn and grow – push yourself to be even better.

You may want to be the best employee of the year so you could win
a great prize – but if you fall short, that’s okay. You gave your best, you’ll
get better when you learn and force yourself to be better the next time around.

Professional athletes practice everyday and they try to give their best
in every competition. But not all of them will win. So they learn and grow by
practicing and working to be better.

As you work to be better, your subconscious and inner powers work with you
to bring you a better life so that you get exactly what you want.

Today and everyday, give your best. Do the best you can at
everything you attempt. Learn and grow.

Your subconscious and inner powers will soon follow up and bring you
the best and that’s when life becomes a lot more pleasant.

So be your best and give your best.

Have a terrific Monday and a fantastic week…

A Simple Way To Increase Your Motivation

August 23, 2013

Most people are looking for simple ways to improve their quality of life. I was reminded of one of those simple ways. In fact, it is so simple that many people skip this vital step to accomplishing their goals.

This motivational tip is to ask yourself the question….what do I want? That’s it. I told you it was simple. Yet so many people don’t place their focus on their exact desire. Sure, they have an idea what they want, but they’ve never really thought about it in detail. For example, they will say…I want to lose weight. Ok…how much? what is the exact weight you want to be at? Those are the types of questions you need to ask.

How does this simple question help achieve success? When you know exactly what you want, your subconscious mind gets a hold of it. What the subconscious then does, as long as you remain focused on the exact goal, is it thinks of ways you can achieve it. It will provide steps to take to reach that goal. If you then take those steps, you are likely to be successful. It’s also common sense that the more clear your target is, the easier it is to hit.

Do you agree that it’s quite simple? If so, please don’t overlook the importance of taking some time (not much is needed) to answer that “what do I want” question. Be sure to be very specific in your answer. If you know specifically what you want, and focus on it as much as possible, your mind will wrap around it and give you the steps to take to get there. Not to get too scientific here, but the subconscious is the part of your mind connected to your spiritual being. As a result, the steps you are being given by your mind are divinely inspired. This is one of the reasons prayer is so effective, especially when you are very specific with your petitions.

It’s a simple fact that your motivation and success will increase dramatically when you make it clear to yourself exactly what you want to accomplish. Keep focused and let your God-inspired mind lead you to your desitination. Enjoy the blessings : )

A Helpful Mind Power Tip…No Question About It

August 11, 2013

When it comes to advice on ways to use the mind to help bring success into my life I am definitely like a kid in a candy shop. I can’t get enough of this type of advice. As mentioned several times before, I like to use this blog as a relay service, as I share this precious information with you when I receive it and it positively impacts my own life.

One piece of advice I’ve seen in several places is the art of questioning the mind. Why are questions so powerful? Think of questions in any aspect of life. We use them to gain more knowledge. It empowers us because we can use this knowledge for good. If a 3rd grade math student asks a teacher a question, they receive information necessary to succeed. If I ask my wife how I can make her happier, she provides information that I can act on, and make her happier.

These same techniques work in your own life. I’ve tried it, and it works wonders. You have goals right? However, in many cases, when it comes to figuring out how to accomplish those goals, you don’t have the answers. What do you do then? The powerful technique I’ve been taught is to ask yourself the questions. “What can I do now/today to accomplish…?” What steps can I take now to become healthier? What can I do today to grow my business? What can I do immediately to be a better friend?

Those are some examples of questions to ask. Here’s the amazing thing…when you ask your mind these questions, it feels forced to come up with answers. Try it! Every time I practice this (which is more and more as it becomes regular habit), answers to my questions seem to appear suddenly and easily. I have answers that I never had before. As mentioned before, those answers are power to act and get closer to the accomplishment of my goals.

Another great part about this process is that it helps you keep your focus on the goal. We often don’t act because we get distracted by other thoughts, nagging doubts, etc. When you ask your mind specific questions about what you are looking to accomplish, it locks in on that goal, and once again helps take you there faster.

Finally, I believe that you are also inviting divine guidance into the situation when you ask questions like this. You are asking your mind, but in essence, you are asking God for His help and guidance, and He ultimately leads you in the direction to go. No matter how you see it, this technique can do wonders in providing focus, direction, and guidance to accomplishing your most precious dreams and goals. Ask yourself questions throughout the day about what steps to take to gain success. If you listen, you will definitely get the answers. Enjoy the blessings : )

An Exercise To Improve Your Ability To Manifest Money

May 16, 2013

Anytime I see an article about manifesting money, I am certainly paying attention! I read one such article by Steve Pavlina the other day, and it was one of the best I’ve ever seen. The information is presented in an easy to follow manner, and it really does help change your mindset about money. As your mindset changes, so do your actions and results.

In the article, the author shares how he taught his ten year old daughter about a money manifesting exercise. They took a walk and had a contest to see who could find the most pennies on the ground. He found several, while his daughter could not find any. He shared that the reason is that he simply knew the pennies were there. It was just a matter of having that faithful mindset and awareness, and knowing that the pennies were there to be found. Through his example, his daughter eventually developed the same mindset and began finding pennies as well. Sometimes she found more than him!

This example has several points. One is that there is an unlimited abundance of pennies and dollars in this world. When you realize that, know that it’s always there, and start looking for it, you manifest more of it. Then your confidence grow, you look for more if it, and find more and more. You just need to maintain this conscious awareness.

I was so impressed with this story that I had to try it for myself. I’ve done it for 4 days, and I will share my results. You tell me if it works or not. For two of the four days, I found 11 cents. Besides finding pennies, I found dimes too. Here’s how this also helps the mindset. I had some doubts the first day, and after a while I hadn’t found anything yet. Doubt is not good for manifesting anything. At that time, I thought about how I really didn’t need any pennies because I had many at home. If I didn’t find any, I could easily go home and have hundreds. Shortly after, I found two coins.

The other days are examples of how sometimes you don’t get exactly what you want, but something better. I was thinking abundance, but found no pennies. Instead, I was led to check a program I was interested in, but didn’t have the extra $20  to invest in it. As I looked at the page, I was told the program was free for an customers of my cell phone carrier. I received a $20 program for free! The other day I didn’t find pennies, but I found a $10 gift card in my mailbox for teacher appreciation.

So what do you think? Does it work? This method does not bring money that magically falls from the sky, and I know 11 cents isn’t much. However, what this experiment has done is change my mindset about money. I feel positive because this is a fun game, and I am winning! As I continue to win, I gain more confidence and positive feelings. I am more aware that abundance is all around me, and I am more willing to notice it and look for it. These are all ways that money is manifested. I strongly recommend you try it. Then as you master the manifestations of pennies, you can move on to bigger and better things. Your mindset will be where it should be to manifest more money into your life.

If you are seeking more money, do this or anything else to shift your mindset to positivity and abundance. You will have to take action, but when you do it will be right and productive. Money isn’t everything and it doesn’t guarantee happiness. However, we all need it, and I believe this is one way that will bring you towards greater abundance. I would love to hear how it helps you, so please share your success stories. Enjoy the blessings : )

Here is a link to the article. It’s an excellent read and provides much more helpful information…

Create Your Reality

April 20, 2013

It’s always fun watching young people learn things we as adults already know. My 16 year old daughter never had a desire to drink coffee. However, I had an extra, french vanilla induced McDonalds coffee available and she asked if she could drink it. I obliged, and watched as she enjoyed her new experience with something called caffeine.

My daughter enjoyed the coffee, and especially loved the joyous effects the caffeine provided. We don’t allow her to drink coffee on a regular basis, but at certain times we will share some with her. The other day I shared a portion of a cup. There was not enough caffeine in that portion to have much of an effect. However, my daughter doesn’t know that. She just associates drinking coffee (no matter how little) with caffeine and the extra burst of energy it provides. As a result, even though it was only a small amount, my daughter’s behavior was affected as if she had a full cup. It was a case of mind over matter.

Mind over matter. It’s such a key expression. My daughter is so convinced of caffeine’s energetic effects that we could give her a cup of decaffeinated coffee, and she would still act as if she had a cup loaded with caffeine.

It’s amazing what we do when we simply believe something. It happens all the time. People make themselves sick because they think something may be wrong with them. People do stupid things simply because they believe they are stupid. On the other hand, people do great things simply because they think they can. It’s all a matter of what the mind believes.

Knowing this, I remind you that you can use this to your advantage. You can actually change your beliefs to get the results you want. There are two main ways to do this. One is with your words. The more you repeat something to yourself, the more you believe it. This is true no matter how real it is at the moment. My daughter was so convinced of caffeine’s effects that she kept saying how she was starting to feel it. As a result, the thought was ingrained in her mind. Use positive affirmations to constantly drill positive thoughts into your head. You will start to believe it and act accordingly.

The second way is through visualization. Actually see your desires coming to pass in your mind and feel the positive emotions you would feel as if it were actually happening. Once again, this confirms the belief in your mind, and you act accordingly.

I will say again that your mind believes whatever you convince it to be true, even if this contradicts reality. You will act according to those beliefs. Since you have full control, deliberately think thoughts of faith, success, and the way you want things to be. You will eventually see it play out in your life.

I would write more, but I need to tend to my daughter who is a bit out of control from another cup of coffee. I’ll be back later. Have a great day : )

Did You Do Your Brain Workout Today?

February 18, 2013

During these fast moving days, it is often difficult to find time for a workout. With all of the crazy things going on, usually the workout ends up getting pushed further down the list, until time runs out and it doesn’t get done.

This scene has played out far too many times in my life. However, I have learned that the ones who do get their workouts done are the ones who deliberately schedule time to do so, and stick to that plan regardless. Those are the ones that are in the best shape and get the most from their body.

I will say that there is another workout that is in your best interest to stick to on a regular basis. Besides working out the body, it is extremely important to work out its most important function of all…the brain. Just like the body, the brain needs to be worked out on a regular basis to remain effective. I have realized the importance of putting aside specific, “no matter what” time to exercise the brain.

One may ask, how exactly do I exercise my brain for maximum efficiency? One answer I would provide is to keep using it. Remaining active instead of wasting away countelss hours of nothing is definitely recommended.

Besides the quantity of thought, I believe it is very important to pay attention to the quality of your thoughts. When you focus on positive outcomes, gratitude, and faithful, optimistic thoughts, you are exercising your brain to get the most out of it.

The important thing is to not take no for an answer when it comes to scheduling time to do this. It doesn’t need to be a huge chunk of time. Many mind experts say the best time to do this is right before going to bed.

I have followed this advice and spend 15 minutes or so immediately before going to sleep focusing on the highlights of the day, and filling my mind with scenes of success, victory, beauty, peace, and whatever great thoughts I can think. The result is I go to sleep with a smile on my face thanking God. I sleep more peacefully, and wake up ready to take on the next day.

Please be sure to do all you can to get some physical exercise. I challenge you to be even more sure to complete your brain workout. Keep it active with the most beautiful, positive thoughts you can think, and you will be in better shape than you can ever imagine. Enjoy the blessings : )

How To Direct The Subconscious Mind

August 18, 2012

There is much power in the subconscious mind. The subconscious is something that we all have. However, many people are unaware of how to use it. Even more people are unaware of the power they possess by using the subconscious mind to their advantage.

Before I explain how to direct the subconscious, let me first provide a crash course about how it works. All of the beliefs and experiences that build up in our lifetime are stored in the subconscious mind. It is this part of the brain that maintains are core beliefs, and it is this part of the brain that ultimately directs our actions. That is because the conscious (thinking) part of our brain is influenced by the subconscious. For example, let’s say you struggled in school, and some peers, parents, and teachers told you that you were not intelligent. The core beliefs in your subconscious tell you that you are not intelligent. Then you believe it, and ultimately take actions which ending up “proving” to your subconscious that it is right. If you are struggling with weight, your experiences and possibly people telling you that you’re fat, are stored in your brain and you believe it yourself. No matter how hard you try to lose weight, you continually act towads confirming the belief of being overweight.

After seeing all this, you may wonder, how can I change this? Since your subconscious beliefs have been formed by what you’ve seen and what you’ve been told, you change the beliefs by changing what the subconscious sees and is told. It’s a matter of replacing the old beliefs with new ones. Here’s a 3 step process to get your subconscious mind to work for you instead of against you:

  1. Think of what you want and see it happening. If you want more money, pick an exact amount, and “experience” having that amount and all of the resulting benefits. If you want to lose weight, think of the exact weight you want to be, and see yourself there, again enjoying all of the benefits.
  2. Direct your subconscious by telling yourself that you are wealthy, you are at the perfect weight, you are an excellent marraige partner, or whatever you want it to believe.
  3. Take the necessary action. When you take action with these new thoughts, you no longer have your negatively established beliefs holding you back. Instead, you have your positively-inspired beliefs pushing you forward.

In order for this to work, you need to do it consistently. I try to do it a few minutes (5-10) a day, about 3 times during the day. That is how your beliefs gradually change. Keep at it, even if you have conflicting thoughts the first few times. That is simply your subconscious trying to prove you wrong. Once you direct it enough though, those new thoughts will take over and you will experience less and less resistence.

The subconscious mind is a powerful tool that can work for you or against you. Follow these steps to help move you forward today. Your faith will increase as you do, resulting in more positive progress. Enjoy the blessings : )

Can Mind Triumph Over Matter At The Olympics?

August 14, 2012

Another olympic fornight has come to an end. I always enjoy watching talented, hard-working individuals from all over the world complete in various types of games. I also enjoy learning the various lessons that are associated with it.

One of those lessons is that success at these games is not based solely on physical talent. Much of the athletes’ success at the Olympics is based on what lies between the ears. In other words, the power of the mind is just as important as the power of the body.

I was reminded of this fact by an article in a Malaysian newspaper. The article criticized some of the athletes for not being strong enough mentally. The article says, “the athletes were competitive at this level, but lost out where it mattered most. They clearly lacked the psychological edge where the mind provides the extra push needed to be a winner.” The article stressed that the Malaysian sports people have not given this aspect enough attention.

This information is not only true in Malaysia, or even in sports for that matter. It is a fact that the most successful people in life are the ones with not only the skill or talent to excel, but also those with the most mental strength and determination to be a winner. Going back to the olympics…how many times have we seen athletes with less talent win because of their determination and strengthof their will. Or how many superior athletes have we seen fall short because they did not possess the mental strength necessary to succeed? It happens all the time, in all aspects of society.

You may be asking…how can I make my mind strong for success? The answer is that it can be easily done. The secret is holding the picture of success (whatever that is for you) in your mind and never letting it go. See yourself accomplishing the goals you set. Feel the satisfaction as if you have already accomplished those goals. This may seem like an over-simplification, but it is extremely powerful. When we envision success and feel the positive emotions associated with it, we believe it as it is embedded into our subconscious. Then we are more likely to act successful and take the necessary steps with confidence in order to achieve it.

It is sad to know that these London olympics are gone forever. However, the lessons will remain. Now it’s time to put them to use.  Have an excellent day : )

The Power of Mental Clarity

April 7, 2012

What is one of the best ways to live the best life possible? The most common answer I am always given is….know EXACTLY what you want to accomplish.

It’s a simple guideline, yet many people do not focus on a clear goal. Some people want more money. Others want to lose weight. Others want the ideal job or relationship.

It is ok to want those things. I think everyone wants all of those things at some point. The key is to be as specific as possible. For example, instead of more money, you instead focus on a specific dollar amount. For example, you say “I want to make $100,000 in 2012”. Instead of just losing weight, say “I want to lose 30 pounds in the next 6 months”. With anything we are seeking in life, we must be as specific as possible with exactly what we want.

Why is this necessary? When our mind is focused on something specific, our subconscious gets a hold of it, and we are directed towards it whether we realize it or not. This is not possible with a non specific goal. I also believe in the power of prayer. When we pray for specific scenarios, I believe it helps develop the necessary faith to accomplish the task, and we will see God’s work in it. It also makes it easier for us to play our part because any action we take is made easier because it is focused on the desired result, ultimately getting us there sooner.

The bottom line is we need to be clear and specific with the outcomes we are seeking. I found an article that explains this in greater detail, especially how the subconscious mind takes a hold of specific requests. I will provide a link to that article. In the meantime, don’t just hope for a great day. Think of exactly what would make it great, let your mind take hold of it, and take the steps to get there. Enjoy the blessings : )
