What Does Lake Effect Snow Have To Do With Your Goal?

November 22, 2014

I live in the Buffalo NY area. We are still recovering from a 6-7 foot snowfall that has crippled the city. You can see my previous post for more on the Snovember snowstorm.

How did we receive so much snow? It’s a weather phenomenon called Lake Effect. It’s why Buffalo receives so much snow every winter. Cold air moves over the still relatively warm Great Lakes, and it produces the moisture that produces these snowstorms. What’s very interesting about this is that these storms are only focused over a certain area, depending on the wind direction. It’s why in my area we received 6 feet of snow, and areas just 5 miles north of here received just a few inches. The reason we received so much snow this time is that the wind direction remained in the same fixed area for hours at a time.

So what does this have to do with reaching your goal? The best way to reach your goal is to keep your mind narrowly focused on it. The more focused you are on the solution or the successful completion of your goal, the faster you are likely to realize it. The key is to avoid distractions and doubts and keep completely focused on what you want. If this snowstorm had allowed other wind or weather conditions to interfere, it would not have remained fixed on the same area. The same is true for your dreams and goals. If you can avoid allowing distractions to keep you off course, you can achieve these desires more quickly.

I ask you to forgive me for still having snow on my mind. It just so happens I was reminded several times in these past few days of how important it is to keep completely focused on the success I crave. I continued to see the radar pictures of these snow bands narrowly focused on the areas that got slammed. It then just popped in my mind to put the two together.

What is your biggest goal today? I share the advice I received. Know it, focus on it, see it’s successful achievement in your imagination as much as possible. Then take any necessary steps you need to take to make it happen. The more focused you are, the more successful you will be. Enjoy the blessings 🙂

Snovember…Buffalo Snowstorm of 2014

November 19, 2014

I live in the town of Lancaster NY. It’s a nice town about 15 miles east of Buffalo. If you’ve seen the news lately, you know that we are being bombarded with snow. It’s easily the most snow I’ve ever experienced in one day. We received about 4 and a half feet in one day, with another foot or two yet to come.

We’ve had extreme snow before. After all, this is Buffalo. In January 1999 we received 7 feet in a month. In December 2001 we received 7 feet in a week. Now in November 2014 we may receive 7 feet (175cm) in 2 or 3 days.

I will honestly say I hate the snow. It’s my fault because I chose to live here (I moved here from Long Island 23 years ago). I knew what I was getting into, but I’ve grown weary of the snow in the past few years, especially last winter which was a brutal one. However, I promote the power of positivity at this site, and there are certainly some positives I can bring from this experience:

  • I work two jobs, almost 60 hours a week. Neither one is accessible, so I may end up with a 4 day vacation.
  • It could be worse. I am being inconvenienced and having to do hard labor in removing piles of snow. That’s it, and it’s only for a few days. I’m not losing my home or going through a life altering hurricane, tornado, earthquake or flood. In fact, as soon as I get tired shoveling (too much snow for the blower) I go back into my heated house.
  • Family time. None of us is going anywhere for several days. We are able to spend extra quality time together and enjoy each other’s company. We’re already making plans for the next few days as well 🙂
  • I’m living history. How many people can say they dealt with 4 feet of snow in one day? Even people that have lived here for over 50 years are saying they’ve never experienced anything like this. Let’s face it, we’ll be talking about this once in a lifetime (hopefully) experience for many years to come. As much as I dislike the snow, I admit that I am enjoying this moment of unique history and I can say I was there.

I will say that I don’t wish this on anyone. It only confirms my desire to one day move to warmer climates once my kids are done with their schooling. But as I said, it could be worse. If you need a visual of what this may look like, here you go. By the way, in the 4th picture with the “mountains” there are cars under there. Hopefully it will help you appreciate the weather in your part of the world. Have a great day 🙂

Your Golden Ticket to Happiness

November 13, 2014

What is the golden ticket to happiness? Almost everyone I know wants to find it. As I pondered the answer to this question it came to me very quickly, almost automatically. I didn’t have to take the time to look it up.

I discovered that anyone can have this golden ticket to happiness, and can have it right away. The key is to appreciate what you have. I apologize if you are looking for some earth-shattering, life changing formula. This is it. Think about it. People are often at the most unhappy when they don’t pay attention to the beauty around them or the great things they already have. They are focused on what’s missing, things they don’t have, or the negative that is going on around them.

I am not naïve to the fact that we all have negative situations around us. I know there are things in life that we want but don’t yet have. However, I have experienced the peace and joy of focusing on the great things that I do have. I realize that I have a choice of where I place my focus. When I focus my thoughts on the wonderful blessings God has provided in my life and even the great things He will do, it brings an amazing joy, and steady stream of happy thoughts that automatically adds to the level of happiness I experience.

This is not rocket science. When you thank God for the little things, you are given bigger reasons to be thankful. Your level of happiness will not disappear unless you allow it to by focusing your thoughts on the wrong things. Once again, I understand negative things happen. However, by maintaining positive, thankful thoughts for the good that you have, the negativity will quickly disappear if you simply deal with the situation and stay positive.

I remind you again that if you want to be singing and celebrating your golden ticket like the kids in Willy Wonka, you simply need to focus on all the good you have in your life now and be thankful for it. Watch how quickly your attitude changes, and before you know it the chocolate factory will be all yours 🙂

The Peace of Knowing Your Desire Already Exists

November 11, 2014

I have read many books about the Law of Attraction and manifesting desires into reality. I continue to read a great deal about this today. One topic that I’ve been reminded about several times lately is the idea that whatever we wish for already exists. It is already a done deal. The key to manifesting its reality is to ask God for it, keep the mind focused on it (instead of the fact that your missing it), and demonstrate the faith that its realization is imminent.

This is not always easy to believe and do. However, besides the fact that following these guidelines can rapidly manifest your desires, I discovered a peace that knowing your desires are already here can bring.

I am working two jobs that I don’t particularly care for. I have been focusing on praying for and attracting a new job that will provide more flexibility and income so I can work just one job and have more free time. I spent quality time focusing on the fact that this job exists and is mine for the asking. I even spent time thanking God for it, even though I am still not living it yet. That in itself brought incredible joy and peace. In addition, I had difficult days at both of these jobs recently. In other cases, I may have left frustrated and even more anxious to escape. Instead, due to this knowledge of my desired job already existing, I was able to laugh it off, continue to provide my best effort, and leave thanking God even more that He already has the desired job gift wrapped and ready for me.

Perhaps you too are in a frustrating situation or you have a burning desire for a new direction life. I challenge you to focus on the fact that it already exists. Yes, it’s hard to believe when you can’t see it yet, and may even be nowhere near it. I have learned from experience that even in those cases if you can focus on the desired outcome and remain faithful to its fulfillment, things happen much sooner than you can ever realize. Know that God already has your dream gift wrapped and ready to deliver it to you when you are fully ready to receive it. Hopefully knowing this will bring you the peace it has brought me, and will rapidly manifest the desires of your heart. Enjoy the blessings 🙂

Can Thinking of What You Don’t Want Help You?

November 3, 2014

If you know anything about positive thinking and the Law of Attraction, you know that negative thinking is not very helpful. This is because when you focus on what you don’t want, you attract more of it into your life. One of the main keys to rapid manifestation is to focus positively on what you want. That’s how you are most likely going to see it happen.

It is very important to maintain positive thoughts. However, I’ve recently been presented several takes on the importance of knowing exactly what it is that you DON’T want. Why? Because everything you don’t want has an exact opposite….that is what you DO want. I was reminded that when you know exactly what you don’t want, it helps bring to mind what you do want. I tried this, and here’s an example of how easy it is. At this time in my life, I don’t want to work two stressful, unfulfilling jobs as I do now. This reminds me that what I DO want is a job that allows me more freedom, more income, and greater fulfillment. I can take it a step further by being even more specific. I want to work from home doing something that brings greater joy and positivity to thousands of people.

Once I realize this, I focus my thoughts on this goal. I visualize myself enjoying the extra freedom and income this job provides. I feel the joy of knowing that God is using me to bring happiness and fulfillment to many others. In as much detail and clarity, I replay these positive scenes in my mind and feel the immense joy of this mental movie.

The next step is to act on opportunities to make it happen. I don’t force the issue. I simple seek answers and solutions then act on this inspiration with the joy and peace of knowing that it is leading me closer to the goal.

As mentioned, dwelling on negative thoughts and what we don’t want is not helpful, and only pulls you further away from what you really want. However, I share with you what I have learned…the fact that at times it is important to think about what we don’t want and use that to become completely clear about what we do want. Then we take the necessary steps in that direction.

I ask you…how do you deal with negative thoughts when they arise? I would love for you to comment and share. It would certainly help me and anyone reading this. I thank you in advance and wish you tremendous blessings 🙂
