For we live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7.
Imagine how much better our lives would be. Imagine how much more empowered we would feel. Imagine the greater impacts we could make during our time on this earth. All if we would take this Bible verse completely to heart, and live it out on a daily basis.
The good news is that it is entirely possible. When we live our lives walking in faith, all of the above situations and more are possible. Is it easy to do? I would say yes and no. It is sometimes difficult to live in faith, especially if things have been difficult and haven’t gone your way. However, it is easy, because it is fully in your control to do. You don’t have to wait or rely on someone else before you can walk in faith. It is fully in your control to begin this instant. Once you start doing it on a regular basis, it becomes easier each day.
So how do we take this new walk of believing before seeing? There are several things you can do. The main thing is to get your mind right. Faith is a mindset. Get it firmly entrenched in your head by telling yourself each day that you choose to live by faith, regardless if things are not going your way at that time. Accept nothing less than a faithful attitude.
Another important idea is to constantly see events and situations in your mind as you want them to be. This again is not easy, especially if your desired outcomes are not taking place in reality. This is the key to faith right here. Keep seeing the positive outcomes in your mind. Replay them over and over. Feel the joy as your desires play out in your mind. What happens when you do this is that your subconscious begins to take hold of it, and you start believing it. How is this important? You need to take some action yourself as you let God do His part. When your mind is in this positive mindset, the action you take is more positive and likely to lead to success. When you take action without the necessary faith, your mindset actually causes you to fail. That is because you will lead yourself to situations that will cause failure. You may have heard of this as a self-fulfilling prophecy.
As your faith grows, keep doing what you are doing. The positive thoughts and success will snowball, and your faith will grow even more. I am also a firm believer in prayer. When you ask God for wisdom and faith, He generously provides it. Not only that, but there have been too many times in my life where He makes things happen to show that He is behind me, and to build my faith even more. He also protects me from any avenues I shouldn’t venture to. The same will be true for you.
The bottom line is that when you only focus on what you are seeing, you are limiting yourself to those circumstances. When you focus on negative or average thoughts, you only bring more negative and average into your life. In order to break the chain of negative circumstances, and go above the normal routine, you need to change your thinking. Live instead by believing and seeing the desired outcomes coming to pass in your imagination. Before long you will not be imagining it. You will be living it out for real.
I will end with another powerful Bible verse, my favorite of all…Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours (Mark 11:24). This is walking by faith and believing, and the blessings are beyond imagination. Enjoy : )
