Using Mind Power to Lose Weight

August 31, 2011

There are several people I know that struggle with their weight. Some are significantly above where they want to be, and some are even well below. Others can get to their desired weight at times, only to gain more pounds shortly after that.

It seems that there are as many ways to lose weight as there are people that are overweight. What works for some, doesn’t work for others. If only there was a weight loss solution that could work for anyone.

I am certainly not an expert on losing weight. I am not a nutrionist or dietician, and I’ve only had one time period in my life where weight gain was an issue. However, I am learning more and more about how the power of our mind can change any situation in our lives. In my own life, I’ve seen it bring more money into my life, it’s improved relationships, and has helped in many other areas. If you are seeking to lose weight, I believe the following process can and will help you:

1. Determine the exact weight you desire to be. Be as specific as possible by naming an exact weight. 150, 120, 135, whatever it may be.

2. Imagine yourself at that weight. Whenever you can, use your imagination to experience life at your ideal weight. Use all of your senses as you do this. See yourself at the ideal weight. Hear the compliments from others. Feel the weight being gone. Smell and taste the food that you can still eat and maintain your ideal weight.

3. As you experience step 2, feel the positive emotions of your weight goal being reached. Experience the feelings of gratitude, satisfaction, and accomplishment for reaching your weight goals. When you do steps 2 and 3, your mind starts to believe that it is actually happening. Your subconsious mind cannot tell the difference between something that is imagined or real, so keep imagining! Once you begin to believe that it is happening, move on to step 4 which is…

4. Take action. It is much easier to take action when you believe positive results are taking place. This occurs in steps 2 and 3. Whether it is more exercise, choosing different foods to eat, or whatever your intuition tells you to do, be sure to take those necessary steps.

I have found that, when I use these 4 steps in any area of my life, I experience positive results. The key here is to focus on where you want to be, and have faith that you WILL accomplish it. When you follow these steps, you actually develop the faith it takes to reach your goal. It’s amazing also, about how when your mind has certain beliefs, your body follows. Have you ever seen how some people stay sick? Even though they may not be completely sick, they think they are. As a result, healing takes much longer. It works the other way as well. When people believe they are vibrant and healthy, they usually remain that way.

The bottom line is that you can reach your desired weight. So start shopping for those smaller clothes, and make plans to do those outdoor, physical activities you’ve been putting off. Believe you can get there and you will. Enjoy the blessings : )

You Fail?…Impossible!

August 29, 2011

In the early 90s, I was lucky enough to work at a Long Island Christian radio station. During part of my time slot, the station featured various ministry programs. There were many good ones, with some very inspirational speakers.

The one that influenced me the most was by a local pastor. His broadcasts were short, but very powerful. He would end each broadcast with the following…greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. You fail?..Impossible!!

Upon hearing these messages, and especially that ending, I would be fired up each day. It still affects me today, almost 20 years later. It is an excellent reminder that the Godly power within us can overcome any obstacle or evil. It reminds me that I can accomplish anything, regardless of how much the odds are stacked against me.

For some reason, I was reminded of this verse today. I felt that, as long as I am sharing about faith-building verses (this one is 1 John 4:4), this would be a perfect one to include. It has helped me for all these years, and I feel obligated to share it to help as many other people as possible in the same way. If you are feeling like you just can’t do something, worrisome thoughts are clouding your mind, or if you need inspiration for the next big step in your life, I highly reccomend you focus on this verse and believe it with all your heart. If so, failure will be impossible!.

Have an excellent day : )

A Positive Path To Freedom

August 24, 2011

I often mention in this blog the power that positive thoughts can bring to our lives. Think positive thoughts, and bring positive results, right?

The problem is that this is sometimes easier said than done. Why? Because there are times where negative thoughts get in the way. They remain in the front of our minds, and the positive thoughts are pushed to the back or are driven out of our minds completely.

After talking to some people lately, I am seeing that many of these negative thoughts are lack of due to lack of forgiveness, especially to themselves. These people get so caught up in the mistakes they’ve made or the people they’ve hurt, and they continuously dwell on them. They don’t think they’re good enough, and as they think these thoughts, they bring more negative situations into their lives. I can vouch for this because I’ve been there at various times of my life.

What’s the solution? Forgive yourself. We’ve all made mistakes, and unfortunately we’ve all hurt people. We’ve done some things we shouldn’t have, and we haven’t done some things we should have. It’s about time to let it go. We can learn from our mistakes, but we cannot dwell on them. If God will forgive us for our worst mistakes (all of our mistakes I should say) then we need to do the same.

What’s the result. First of all, I have found that when I ask God for forgiveness and I forgive myself, I feel a major burden lifted. I feel a kind of freedom that I cannot explain. What’s better, is that the removal of those negative thoughts makes more room for the positive. When we dwell on positive thoughts, great things happen in our lives.

Please don’t let your past mistakes bring you down. Learn from them and take any necessary actions to account for them. However, Once the deeds are done and the apologies are made, let them go. You can’t change the past. You can be positive now, which will result in a positive and productive future. Give yourself that freedom today and enjoy the blessings : )

Thoughts Of Victory

August 21, 2011

It is becoming more and more evident every day the power of thinking positive thoughts.

I see the positive changes in my own life and feel compelled to share. Are you looking for victory in the daily battles you face? Then, in your mind, see those battles being won. Feel the joy of overcoming obstacles, avoiding defeat, and conquering the major challenges in you life. As you see them happening in your mind, you will begin to see them happening for real. Maybe not right away, or maybe not exactly the way you envisioned. Regardless, your victories in these situations will far outweigh the losses.

I have found it helpful to take some specific time each day to envision success. The best time is right before I go to sleep. When we go to bed with a smile on our face, we are much more likely to wake up that way. Also, these thoughts are imprinted in our subconscious during this time and as we sleep. When this happens, we are more likely to automatically act as if the victory is already ours. That’s the key.

I have learned the necessity of staying focused on positive thoughts. More importantly, I have seen the positive results for doing so. If it happens for me, it will certainly happen for you.

Enjoy the blessings : )

Responsibility For Success

August 20, 2011

Who’s responsibility is it for goals to be achieved in our lives? The obvious answer is that each individual is responsible for their own success. I agree with that. However, how much responsibility do we need to take for our own success?

The second question is the more debatable one. Many people say that the harder we work, the more we succeed. I will not disagree with the importance of working hard. However, the more I study this topic, the more I realize we are not made to do it all. In fact, most the responsiblity does not rest on our shoulders.

As author/speaker Wayne Dyer puts it, we are co-creators with God. We do our part in planting the seeds with our actions. Then we rely on Him to take care of the rest. We don’t have to work ourselves crazy. The key is to determine what steps of action we need to take, and then take them. If you’re not sure, then pray and ask. All wisdom will be provided when we simply seek it.

The next step is to have faith. Do you part, and let God do His. Then have complete faith that the goals you are seeking will  be achieved.

This method works wonders. We do our part, but don’t have to knock ourselves out, as we faithfully rely on God and His wonders to take us the rest of the way. Then it sets the stage for even greater success. Then be thankful and enjoy the blessings : )

4 Step Process to Success

August 19, 2011

There are many formulas to success from people in all walks of life. I was sent an e-mail from inspirational speaker Bob Proctor. It included an audio with perhaps one of the simplest and most powerful formulas for success. The audio and list are titled “Deena Morton’s Four Principles”. Here they are…:

1. Have a clear goal in mind of what you what you want to accomplish. Fix that goal in your mind and “experience” its accomplishment in your imagination. See it happening and feel the associated positive emotions.

2. Be “others focused” The more you give to other people and positively impact them, the more blessing you will receive in your own life. However, Deena stresses to avoid giving to get. Give because you want to and expect nothing in return from them. You will be blessed abundantly.

3, Have gratitude for everything. Even when things go wrong, be thankful that you are being pushed in the right direction. The more we are grateful for the success that we have, the more we will receive.

4. Have unwavering faith. She says that when we worry and doubt, we push our goals further away from us. When we have faith, knowing that we are receiving what we desire, our goals will be realized much sooner than later.

These are not new principles. They have been around forever, and they all came from the mouth of Jesus Himself. Success and the achievement of your goals is at your fingertips. By following these easy 4 steps, you will be grasping success in your arms. Enjoy the blessings : )

A Free Way To Increase Your Income

August 18, 2011

Are you someone who is looking to make money online? It is my dream to make an excellent living from the comfort of my own home, and I strongly believe it will happen one day.

There are a billion ads online advertising ways to make increase your income. Many seem like they could work. The problem is, in almost all cases, you have to pay a fee to buy a program or get the magic formula. I know you have to spend money to make money, but if I spent it on all of these opportunities I would go broke instead of making the money I am looking for.

I will say that there is a free way to increase your income, and it doesn’t take much effort. In fact, you can have lots of fun with this. Are you ready?…..

As I continue to read and study the mind and its power, I see more and more how we can use our minds to accomplish anything. This is not something that one book says. I have read about 30 (and counting), and they ALL say it!! Even the greatest book of all, the Bible, clearly outlines benefits of positive thoughts.

So how can just thinking about money bring it to you? From what I’m reading, it’s a subconscious thing. You may be thinking…so money is going to fall from the sky just because I am thinking about it? I wish it was that easy. However, the more we see ourselves with the money in our imagination, the more likely we are to see it show up in our lives. It’s not about willing it into our lives. It’s not about figuring out how we can keep it all to ourselves. And it’s not about just sittting around waiting for it. It is about generating good, positive feelings about money. It is about figuring out how we will use it to bless ourselves and others. And it is about developing faith and taking necessary action according to that faith.

Faith is exactly what happens when we think positive thoughts about money, or anything. I shared recently that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. I wrote that our thoughts are substance, and our desires are things hoped for. When we see money in our imagination, we are creating that evidence. Remember that our subconscious cannot tell the difference between what is real or imagined. The more you imagine it, the more you start to believe you can have it. Once you have that faith, pray for and seek opportunities to make it happen. Be sure to act immediately on the answers and guidance you receive from your intuition. I believe that intuition is the voice of God guiding and directing you.

I have seen this work in my own life. As I rid myself of negative money thoughts, and replace them with postive ones, I gradually see more money coming into my life. The more I maintain these positive thoughts, the more opportunities I receive. The same is true for anyone.

So instead of paying for those money-making opportunities and hoping they work out, see yourself as the prosperous person you want to be. Mentally experience the great things it will bring. Imagine the blessing you can be to the people in your life. Then act on the opportunities that inevitably follow. The more you keep these positive thoughts in your head, the faster you will see the results you are looking for. How much does this wonderful opportunity cost? It’s free!

Enjoy the blessings!!

What Is There To Be Happy About?

August 18, 2011

I am reading a great deal lately about the importance of gratitude. The information consistently says that, the more we are happy and thankful for what we already have, the happier we will feel. We are also more likely to continue to receive more of what makes us happy.

The question is..what do we have in our lives to be happy about? For some, answers come easily. This is not the case for others. I saw a book in the store today called “14,000 Things To Be Happy About”. It talked about the big things, like family and friends. However, to get that many things to be happy about, you have to dig deep. They did, and mentioned things like cool breezes, supermarkets, bookstores, etc. It’s a great idea, but there can’t be 14,000 things to be happy about. Is it possible?

This is where I have to disagree with the author. There cannot be 14,000 ways. Instead, I believe…there must be more!! When I think about this further, the things that make me happy are (or should be) unlimited. The key to achieving this happiness is to find as many ways as possible to be happy, and finding as many things as possible to be thankful for. As this book showed, we can be thankful for the smallest of things. I find that, when I am thankful for even the smallest things, those little things that get under my skin, don’t quite get to me. Those little pains in the neck aren’t felt so much any more.

It is very true. The more gratitude we show, the happier we are. Let us focus on the things (big and small) we can be thankful for. As a result, we will see more of them in our lives. Enjoy the blessings : )

Disappearing Time

August 18, 2011

Some of the worst words a teacher can here are…summer vacation is over. It hurts to say it. It hurts to think it. Don’t get me wrong. I like what I do. I appreciate the fact that I am lucky to have a job, especially with what seems like billions of teachers losing theirs. Still, summer vacation is my favorite time of year. I love the peace of knowing I can go at my own pace, I am stress-free, and have much more time for personal enjoyment.

All good things must come to an end. This is my last week of summer vacation, and the hurried pace has already begun. The part time job I’ve had this summer has all of a sudden provided full time work. And I need to make some preparations before going back to school on Monday.

However, all is not lost. I have sworn to myself that I will be a much better time manager when school starts. Yes, I’ve said this before, and it seems like I became worse. This time is different. A while ago I shared a great tip from an author about time management. He suggested breaking the day into 15 minute chunks of time. 15 minutes is enough to accomplish something, and short enough to get back on track if we stray. When we consciously focus on those 15 minute bits of time and plan accordingly, it is amazing how much more we can get done. After a while it becomes habit.

What’s to gain? First, we are least likely to procrastinate. The result is then peace of mind. Remember how positive you feel when the to-do list is taken care of? This instead of the stress you feel when it’s not, and you have those uncompleted tasks clogging your mind. Also, when the necessary things are done, you will find that you have more time to enjoy yourself and do those fun things you’ve been putting off. You can’t lose!

As I said, all good things must come to an end. However, the time management lessons I learn over the next few weeks could be the start of great things. I challenge anyone else to take this same step. Break your day into 15 minute sections. Try to accomplish something in each of them. I definitely believe it will help you as it helps me when I stay disciplined with this approach.

Have an excellent day!

Life Is Awesome!

August 11, 2011

Sounds ironic, but I have to agree with my own title! I say this at a time where my life is very good. Nothing really great going on, though nothing really bad.

I am finding more and more, however, that life is as great as we make it. The more “awesome” we believe it is, the more I believe we will see the reality of that.

Here’s a little activity I sometimes use in my Spanish classes. I take a word, then have my students use the letters in that word to form other related words. I came up with this one. We’ll stick to English for now. It’s the word “awesome” and reasons why life is just that. Please feel free to play along:

Awesome God!!

Wonderful blessings

Every day is a new opportunity

Sins are completely forgiven

Opportunity  – the opportunities we have in life are limitless.

My family

Excellence – God’s excellence is all around us.

Ok, so I cheated a bit and added some words. It’s ok, it’s my game anyway.

I challenge anyone else to play this word game. The more important thing to reflect on is the abundant good we all have. Some have more, some have less, but if one looks hard enough they can find it. Please enjoy the excellence in your world

God Bless!!
